I'm digging the interiors, but that exterior body is going to have to grow on me. Not going to pull one of those descriptions of "it looks like a combination of X meets Y" because those are never any help. Right now it is not stirring my blood.

I definitely agree, the interior is absolutely stunning, but the exterior does look awkward AF. Looks like they spent too much time on the inside, and forgot about the outside.

I do have to agree, the Interior is stunning.the exterior is awkward, at best.

definitely see the S class resemblance, I think that's how all the MB family of cars is these days days though, one sausage, different length.

Sadly there is no information out yet, not that I've managed to find anyway. I think the full, official unveil is next week, so all info should be available next week.

This is my opinion of the new W213, The exterior is stunning, it looks like the new S class had a baby. Take it, it does look like the new C class as well. I really do like the new C class, I think it's a big improvement over the pervious. What I hate about the new C class is the "Ipad" Nav, and that you really have to add every exterior option to get it to look good. The Interior in this new E class looks stunning as well. It'll be the new "poor mans" S class.
At every new generation of a car, the pervious owners of the out going/ current car are not going to like the new one. They feel that there's will be come old looking. I really think the 2014-2016 E class will be the most aggressive looking one ever. But guys remember that's not what Mercedes costumers want. You want aggressive go to Audi.
To be honest this puts me in a hard place, I will always think of ordering a new S class, but with the New E class looking similar people will look at the S and go "thats a nice E"

Is this a C or a CLA, from exterior? Still think the four headlights distinquished the "E" Class
Interior - glad they kept the built in infotainment screen as opposed to the tacked on pad.
Not sure about the interior colors or the black dash with stripes(?) on it.
I would have to see one in person to really judge - and the different interior treatments.
Does make me positive I will keep my 2010 for a lot longer.
Overall, from looking different, 95% of Americans don't know a CLA from an S, so that may not really be all that important.

classy, elegant, what an E should be. not saying that i love it but it looks ok.
now the interior...its a whole new level of sophistication. i wouldnt mind too much about the exterior since i spend most of the time driving the car from the inside.
cant wait to see how menacing the E63 would look like.

Wow. Probably looks better in person up close. The exterior, to the untrained eye, will be almost impossible to distinguish the difference between the C/E/S when this model line refresh is complete. S only stands out because of its size and well, it just looks the best still. Rear looks less "melty" than the C and CLA.
Integrated NAV however, is a step in the right direction and wouldn't be surprised if W205 refresh and CLS see that eventually. There goes the whole "pop up screen is safer, line of sight" argument I've heard from dealer salespeople.

As a design exercise the new "sensual purity/modern luxury" theme is paying off huge for Mercedes. The W205 C Class has been destroying sales records not only for the C, but has been the brand's top sales performer overall despite the CLA being the new bottom rung. The S has blown away expectations as well.
I've always felt the E, because it had some size to it but didn't need the stretched wheelbase of the S, was the best proportioned, most athletic looking MB sedan.
I'm guessing in person, with the Sport body, the 20" Multispoke wheels and the right color (Palladium Silver please) it will be a heart stopper.

C is a bit small for my liking. i feel cramped inside when i drive it. the S, although I havent driven one, seems a bit too large (not that i would complain but), if only theres something in between...ah yeah...her comes the E! (although Palladium Silver has been discontinued last year they now call it grey)

It clearly appears that the feminine styling MB has adopted is being applied to this car. I am not a fan of it. I don't like the look of the latest S class exterior and feel the same about this new version of the E. I do think that the interior of the new E could work for me, unlike the new S. I still think that the early versions of the W212 look the best. Naturally because I have one but I think it will be a classic. Just like the pre-face lifted W221. I have one of those two. It's a shame I can't keep these cars out of warranty.

Yeah. It's the Goldilocks pick. I think on the C at least you can still get the Palladium grey/silver (?) but on the S it's been replaced with "Selenite". For some reason, that specific tone really accentuates all of the contours and character lines in the new body styles.
It is interesting to see you hanging in the W212 forums. You must be looking at this model hard. Can't say as I blame you. I don't think that a fresh CPO W222 will work for me when it's available. How about you?

Also, I had a C loaner for a couple of weeks and I came very close to ordering a build. The exterior isn't heart stopping, although with the right wheels and colors it's decent, but the chassis..,holy crap that's a fun car to zip around in, and the interior and tech are in a different league from the 221. Just a bit cramped, and a lot of base cars running around diluting the brand. I don't feel quite as much like an old Mafia dude like I do in the S.
I'm thinking that C chassis, stretched and widened a bit in the E, with the available AirMatic, would be a very nice replacement for a 221.
