I still think that the early versions of the W212 look the best. Naturally because I have one but I think it will be a classic. Just like the pre-face lifted W221. I have one of those two. It's a shame I can't keep these cars out of warranty.
The 212, and I realize I'm on your forum and I mean no disrespect, but I never "got" it. Usually with a new Benz design I'm ambivalent, then I grow to appreciate it, then I admire it. I never got there on the 212.
I do agree that both inside and out the new design language is decidedly feminine, where the 212 was all about crisp squared off lines and bulging haunches, the 205/213/222 go off in the opposite direction.
I'd buy the 213 for the chassis and interior, but I'm not put off by the body at all.

My favorite MB sedan exterior is the 211. Very graceful and athletic at the same time. Perfect proportions. Interior was kind of meh and there was nothing remarkable from behind the wheel though.

If you get a chance to take a C for a service loaner see what you think about the handling and steering feel. The exhaust note on the T4 is grating but it's a fun car to drive.
The S as you point out is a great long hauler and comfortable but kind of lumbering and floaty. Rewarding to drive but not fun.

2014 E550 4MATIC TUNED - Turbo Upgraded Stage 3
It looks just like a bigger size C...Kinda boring though.
I don't feel sporty at all. But it looks more luxery feel. Maybe thats the true MB form.
I am dying to see the new E63.
Hopefully, new E63 has much more sporty look.

Not really a fan of the current design language. Way too soft and conservative for my taste. Front looks like a nip/tuck of the W212 facelift. Nothing interesting to see in the side profile. Rear...even more bland than the front. IMHO

I'm holding judgment, myself. As a recent purchaser of a W212, I do not need to replace the car for a while. I have plenty of time to get to know the W213 before I need to decide.
I had a W201 back in the days when all the MB's looked similar except for size. I felt no negative feelings about that -- as long as the family style was one that I liked (which it was, back then).
I'll wait to see how I feel about the W213, and enjoy the heck out of my W212 while I'm waiting.

They have a poll for selecting best interior between E, S90 and XF. For some reason majority people choose Volvo's interior. It is definitely nice, however I still prefer E class over. However regarding exterior, S90 looks better, more stylish and classy.

Where is this poll?

Well I will give you W212 guys credit for handling the inevitable news of your car's successor with grace. When the 222 came out the 221 guys went absolutely bat-**** about how gay the thing was, myself included, although secretly I wanted one.
A 222. Not "a gay." Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As someone who had a 2014 E and has a 2015 S right now, I can say this car is an absolute stunning upgrade. From the looks of it, people will be getting a 120,000 car for half the price and I don't think anyone will have any complaints.

I wonder if that 222 will grow on me when it comes time to replace my current S. By then there will probably be some decent CPO's. Unfortuantely warranty will be up on both cars in 2017 about three months apart. It is a perfect storm of MB ownership. I will either have to replace both of them or roll the dice and own one out of warranty for a little while. So far both have been fairly trouble free but all it takes is one airmatic or tyranny as you have experienced first hand.

The more I look at these pics of the new E350 from the OP link, the more I notice that the two front ends are not the same. Interesting. So maybe more choices than just sport or luxury.

So if say you'd have 3 styles to choose from, until the AMG car(s) come along. I say cars, plural, because they did something unusual with the C450 AMG. Basically it got the electronic suspension and brakes from the C63, and a TTV6 instead of a hand built engine, with an AMG exhaust. But it starts in the 50's vs the C63 in the 70's.

Very awkward looking thing! I really wanted to like it as I was planning to upgrade to the W213 later this year. After first seeing the interior, I was sold instantly. The interior really is sensational. Now.. I am feeling very disappointed. This is a complete let down.

So what are you going to do? The W213 will be the best class in its segment on the day it is launched, and it's a big leap over the w212.

Well it looks like those front lamps, love 'em or hate 'em, are "it". Like most things Mercedes, a closer inspection reveals the engineering genius and the cosmetics become secondary. Although the cosmetics look pretty damn good. One thing I can tell you about the 213: Don't **** it off.

Lights are interesting but I am having trouble getting past those jouwls below the lights in the pictures above . Kind of reminds me of an early 2010's Lexus GS series. That's why I like the looks of the '10/'11 E's and S's.
