When To Get New E Class?

Hello

I have a feeling many of you here are previous E class owners and I was wondering, when is the best time to order/get the E? I am waiting for my Jeep lease to finish so I can lease the new E class and I am not sure if I should be looking to get a great deal from now or wait until early next year when my lease is up to get a great deal or even next summer. Any info/advice would be appreciated.

In my experience in the car industry and also personal experience with MB, the best would be during December. My sister purchased a C300 two years ago the last week before the new year, and was able to get 8K off the MSRP without trying too hard. I plan to order my E around October for delivery in December

I agree, late December is the best time. Actually, if it were me, I'd try to order a car, just as I want it, sometime in October and hope it comes in around mid Dec. That way, you may get the best of both worlds: the exact car you want, at the very best price. All that said, "THE" best time to get a new E Class, is when the new I6 is available.

I wish I could wait that long but my lease is up in about 6 months and I wouldn't have a car to use. With ordering, I always thought the dealers didn't give good discounts on ordered cars rather than cars already on the lot?

Some dealers will require a deposit so that you are really forced to purchase the car when it arrives. If you have a good relationship or find a good salesman, they wont require such thing so you can still back out when it arrives. Either way, they will tell you that you negotiate price when it does come, and so the incentives that are available during that time will be applied. The winter event in December usually means MBUSA has a 2K incentive straight off the bat.

You should purchase this December, not next

Certainly should wait until you can get something better than an I4 for the engine. MB has good sales at the end of summer and winter, you should go as close to the end of the month as possible where salespeople are running out of time to hit their thresholds are are more likely to come up with a better deal.

I'm not sure what it is like in other states, but in California, unless you are ordering something truly unusual, for which the dealer demands a non-refundable deposit, your deposit on an ordered car is ALWAYS 100% fully refundable, NO MATTER WHAT. Order the car the way you want it. Then, when the car comes in, if the dealer won't be reasonable on the discount, just walk out and go somewhere else. As for timing, when I found someone to take over the lease on my 2014 ML350BT, my new S550 was still about 30 days out. I got a long term rental from Enterprise and it worked out perfectly. Good luck to you.

Im in Florida and luckily the deposits are refundable. We ordered my sister's CLA and was able to get the deposit back if we did not want it. If I get it this December then I wouldn't need a rental but I would need to figure out what to do with my Jeep lease.

I wish it was a 36 month lease and not a 39 month

December had some very good pricing when I bought my W212.

Also, to quote the service manager at a local dealership, "I'd wait at least 6 months after the release date of any new car before I'd buy one."

He should have said to wait at least 2 years after a new model is introduced. It takes a while to fix all the problems. 6 months isn't long enough.

Also, if you give a deposit on an ordered car use a credit card. That way you can file a chargeback if the dealer refuses to give you your deposit back.

Had a 2010 W212 when it first came out. No issue at all for the 3 years we leased it. Only had a battery replacement covered under warranty.

Also just got a 2017 W213. First batch again. First issue - Homelink garage opener codes do not stay coded. When car is shut down codes are reset. Dealer needs to program the control unit to fix. Service consultant said it's the first 2017 E300 he's taken in (as of 9/7/16) and is the first time he's heard about it. Hope this is the only issue we will have.

So it's really hard to say and it's mostly draw of luck.

Likewise. I bought a C 350 (W204) nine years ago when it first came out and I've had zero problems with it to this day. It's even still on the original battery!

I would wait at least to the next model year

if I were you. But for me the new E sedan is out of consideration as it now longer has a v-6 , for a car in the mid 50 K starting range absurd !!

Hi I am new here, I am helping my parents who are looking at a E300. When would it be better for them to buy the car ? Also what kind of a deal should they be looking for. I can give a exact list of all of the options they want if it helps. Thank you for your help in advance.

My E300, ordered in July, will take ~6 months due to the P3 package.

Just some quick feedback that I received from my dealer regarding the W213 for December delivery. Based on what my dealer told me. (sales manager is a friend)

They do not expect any huge programs on the E Class for December. They are expecting a better residual rate, but less Manufacture cash. Normally there is about 2K cash incentive from MB, but they expect that to be in the $500 - $1000 range due to the vehicle being new and easily selling 2-3K above invoice. They have a hard time justifying selling under invoice. MB is expecting the dealer to eat the cost to move the units.

In addition he mentioned how aggressive they get is based on units sold versus BMW. MB is currently ahead by 30K units sold for 2016 (which apparently is significantly ahead), so he does not see a real incentive to move units aggressively. He did mention things can change.

What he did tell me are realistic expectations for December:
7% discount (which should bring you around invoice)
$500-$1000 MB cash
Better Residual rates

Just passing along what i was told. Hopefully this helps.

The OP posted this question:

When To Get New E Class?

My wise guy answer is: when the engine they offer in the E class is not the same as the much less expensive, ever so slightly smaller brother called the C300.

C300 is 9.3" shorter in overall length, 1" shorter in height, 10" narrower. Wheel base is 3.9" shorter. but better MPG's than the E class!

If my only choices were a new E300 or a new C300, I would all day buy the C300 and take the extra $20K and short some stocks before the election.

Wise guy response: skip the stocks.... you can do better

On a serious note, i'm 6'5 and don't fit in the C class (I also don't like the C). It class feels cheap on the inside. I know some people would lose their minds over hearing this but its always been like that.

My salesperson (who I bought a few Mercedes' from) told me to wait till the Mercedes winter sales event.

He ordered my wife's 2017 E300 (with P3) accordingly. Now the car is being made, and he estimates it will arrive around the sales event.
