2017 E300 Voice Command - General Question

Greetings All,
New to the forum and soon to be 1st time Mercedes owner....

I have an order placed for a 2017 E300 4Matic. Piedmont Green - P3 Pkg -Designo Int etc.. Vehicle should be in this Sat.
Sales person is on vaca till then. Hoping someone will have quick answers.

1. Can you control climate via voice command? IE... "Set Temperature to 72 degrees"

2. Vehicle has heated seats.. Are ventilated a "must" have?

Thanks Much!

Can't answer your first question, as I'm awaiting delivery as well. As for your 2nd question, coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee with ventilated seats, it's a must have for me and the wife. It's a godsend in those hot summer months.

Congrats on your delivery this weekend! Starting to wish I had ordered the designo interior myself, but I'm sure I'll be happy with my car as is. Ignorance is bliss!

I'm coming from a Lexus ES which does have ventilated seats. An over site on my part not ordering them to begin with.
Side note I can control climate settings in the Lexus via voice command. Ill be shocked if you cant in the E300.
Thanks for the feedback and info!

1. No you cannot control the temperature with the voice command. The voice command actually kinda sucks... but hey everything thing else on the car is amazing.

2. Im in miami and i never used my ventilated seats on my C class. The only time i would use it was to ventilate the fart smell from my seats when i farted. I didn't get my new e class with ventilated seats and so far i don't regret it.

According to the Operators Manual (page 215) one can only display the climate control settings using voice.
I'm in Florida and ventilated seats are a must. Temperatures have been in the upper 70's and 80's all Winter.

Two weeks into my E300 with ventilated seats here in Florida. While I wouldn't do without them, don't expect bone-chilling cold from them either. I had them on my E350 and both these, and the E350 provide adequate ventilation, relieving the 'sticky shirt' syndrome we experience during the summer.

Now... the heated seats.... omg... they're like a blast furnace. They come in handy during the 3 or 4 times each 'winter' I have to use them.

As for voice control of the temp... really no big deal to reach over and click the temp switch up or down a few times. Technology can get too carried away sometimes.

Angry Ventilated seats

Had them on my last four E350's. Find them to be very useful in the summer humidity here in the Philadelphia area. To my surprise and disappointment when I got my special order in to the dealer the back seats are not perforated. Dealer says Mercedes stopped ventilating the rear. Paid $4k extra for the leather package and no vents in the back. If I had just stayed with the MB-tex they would have my desired holes. It really gives the interior an uneven look. Ventilated front and solid rear. Will leave the ice scraper in the car this summer to help get the people unstuck.

That is just one of the many disappointments with this car. I am a gadget guy and let the technology and 15 years of driving MB's stop me from doing due diligence. I put everything on the car but designo leather and the upgraded stereo. Came in around $78k. Have it for almost 6 months and the dealer is still waiting for Mercedes to tell him how to fix all the problems. Nothing mechanical as I am satisfiede with that but the dual displays and that part sucks. Oh yes I can get purple on the 64 color display. But there are only about 5-6 colors that will display with enough difference. The rest are useless and will vary depending on your interior color. Going to replace the voice command with smoke signals as that will be an upgrade in technology. And the Mercedes Me app, really! Sure the kid who designed that will graduate high school in a few years. Sorry for rambling, sometimes the frustration gets the best of me.

Sorry to hear.. I have no regrets (so far) on getting the car. I will miss the ventilated seats but no need for them yet.. It was 19 degrees here in NH this morning.
This vehicle did not have the dual displays, Its cool to have but in my mind I questioned how often I would use / change it..

There are a few things I will miss not having that my Lexus ES350 had.
Heated Steering Wheel - I have wood in the E class
Heated Windshield - Great for melting snow/ice from wipers
Voice Control of climate settings
Media Source Button - to change from XM - USB - FM with one click
Lexus Enform (lexus's equivalent to mercedes me) had monthly vehicle reports Mileage- Oil life - tire pressure etc...AND a status check to see if windows/sunroof etc where open / closed locked/unlocked.
Wish Mercedes me had those features. I actually think they do in the European market (they also get the remote parking pilot and NFC digital key)

Resurrecting an old thread: I find it bizarre that I can control seat heating temp levels, ambient light settings, defrost on/off, call the Kremlin, etc. etc. etc. and yet can't simply dictate a climate control temperature.

MICRO crisis averted!

With COMAND, you have to use a phrase something like "driver side temperature 21" or "front passenger side temperature 21" or "passenger side front temperature 21" and it sometimes works.

Yes, it works "sometimes", as noted above. It doesn't always understand the temperature that well, and sometimes it mixes up driver and passenger side.
