Amazon Echo/Google Home connect to Mercedes-Benz

Just saw this article on Amazon Echo and Google Home being able to connect to new Mercedes Benz via MercedesMe

http://www.theverge.com/2017/4/21/15...xa-google-home

Anyone have step-by-step instructions on how to do this?

I have an Amazon Echo
I have M-B embrace app
I have a 2017 E300

go to the Alexa app on your phone, then from the menu choose skills, then search for mercedes, and from there, it is a breeze and does it for you

When I first saw this I was ecstatic that I can finally control my E300 from Alexa. But then I set it up and it doesn't work properly. I am pretty sure I set it up correctly because whenever I tell Alexa to do something (Alexa, ask Mercedes Me to start my car) it'll respond with "ok, sending repost start . . . to you're 2017 E300" but nothing will happen. I don't get the text saying the car has started or couldn't start, and when I watch my car nothing happens.

Also this happens with the lock function as well.

UPDATE
It works some of the times like it would in the app. I still do not get a text if the car starts but at least it does work sometimes which is better than working no times.

This sounds like one of things that will never work when you're trying to show it off to someone.

Good point. And the truth is when would you ever use it? Especially if you keep your car in a garage.

That's not an issue but the way MB remote start works.

Has anyone been able to use the remote start via Alexa recently? When I 1st set this up, it worked well. In fact, seemed even faster than when sending a start command via the phone app. However, over the past 6 weeks or so, every time I try to start the car I receive an error. The response is something like (my wife has my car, so I cannot test it right now):

"This command is not currently available through Mercedes Me"

I can lock the car, so I know the Alexa/Mercedes integration is setup properly.

Thoughts?

Mercedes removed this feature from Amazon Alexa. I used to use that almost every day to cool down my car. So far it’s down indefinitely but they say it’s only temporarily removed. So I’m not sure what to think of it. I’m just assuming the worst that it won’t ever come back to Alexa

That stinks...to me that is by far the most useful feature.

That is the only reason why I used Alexa's Mercedes Me skill. I don't lock or unlock the doors or send locations to the navigation (I use the app for that if needed).

IMO using Alexa's voice commands say from your office is a huge security risk because anyone could issue commands.
That may be why the Alexa start command is disabled.

I can see this BUT I would think the lock/unlock feature would be the one that gets temporarily taken down. The remote start doesn't unlock the car, it keeps it locked so people cannot get into it. But, for example, a co-worker can use Alexa to unlock the car and then rummage through my stuff and take everything, which is a huge issue in my eyes.

I don't think I would use one in a workplace. For me I prefer it at my home to use that stuff so I don't look like a total dick

In the process of setting up a new MB E class 2018 model now. Is there some specific extras I need to include in order for the Alexa integration to work?

You should only have to enable the Mercedes Me skill via Amazon Alexa app on your phone, and then login to the skill on the app.

Ok so all mercedes E class 2018 can do it as standard equipment? You dont need to include a connect package or something like that?
