5 mth wait!!! E 43 delivery in 8 DAYS

Mine arrives in week 23, but I'm not allowed to touch it until end July when the lease on my w212 ends :-(

FINNALLY!
Picked up a flawless selenite magno, brown interior and brown wood, with every option except, the optional 3d radio. After the drive home its been driven 100 miles so still well within break-in period , thus no performance driving yet. As a highway cruiser the car is incredible, its as quiet if not more than a Lexus LS, the ride with 20 in rims is superbly comfortable, it drive like a tank. It displays an immense sense of solidity regardless of speed, never harsh it just simple keeps an even keel in all situations, even with the suspension in sport+ it maintains a smooth ride. In the higher setting it simple hunkers down like velcro and impacts become more apparent, however, not even then is it uncomfortable. The "regular" Burmester is splendid, surprisingly, its noticeably better than the C class version.

The build quality is most definitely a few steps above my NC built C class. My C had a misaligned trunk, the wood on the console didn't match the doors and the weather striping caulk on the inside of the doors was horribly applied, that's an obvious no no since you can see that every time you open the door. As far as I have seen my E43 class has zero assembly defects
The command system is a definite improvement over the previous version, it is still complicated but now its much better organized and a little more logical its a lot better integrated the previous command system was kind of a Golberg mix match of systems.
The seats are simply perfect no more to say. Once they hug you, you got to have it, period.
The double digital display is also spectacular and works flawlessly a nice touch on the AMG versions is that the HUD includes a tachometer, in fact, you can use 5 or so different HUD displays. Pairing your phone is a snap and the wireless charger will work with my S7 even while using the protective case, the NFC however requires the phone to be "naked". However I still don't see the use for NFC except for instant phone pairing and unlocking the car, things that are not ultimately necessary since they are duplicate functions. The S7 was not able to do android auto, maybe its the third party wire I was using
I cant comment on "enthusiastic driving" till I pass the "magic thousand". The AMG manual recommends you drive on Comfort or ECO during the break in period which I will follow.
Regarding the windshield, it does have a very slight copper tint to it which you only notice on overcast days (like today).
The headlights are actually excellent although only partially "intelligent". The low beams have excellent reach and intensity, the sharp, stepped cutoff is completely gone. The high beams are freakishly excellent, their activation is unusual and kind of cool, instead of "popping up" the LEDS light up in a sweeping sideways manner from the middle to the sides. The side "curve" lights work perfectly too.
I thought the headliner was alcantara but, in fact, its regular MB "weave" material.
The matte paint is a celebrity, its gotten more raves than my S2000 which was a compliment magnet.
The 20 inch turbine rims are also a fave. Unless you must have an ultimate butter ride, do not fear the 20 in rims, the ride is well controlled and firm but never harsh. Pot holes and badly cracked pavement can be felt but they are well dampened and never felt through the seat. The suspension simply NEVER feels discombulated, the car almost fells like it has the carpet ride suspension though it doesn't.
IN SUMMARY: On day 2 of ownwership and just over 100 miles, 100% satisfied.

Don't know if this is the same issue, but on my wife's GLE63 only one of the usb ports works with CarPlay or Android Auto.

Got Android auto to work! Mostly a google maps app... Rather use the MB system and not have to hassle with cords. I also found a USB to 12V female on Amazon, perfect for my Escort Redline. Works just fine.

 

A few more impressions comparing to W205....
-The sun shades not only extend but they also have dual shades so you can cover your side and front at the same time! Woohoo! I always thought that the lack of extension on the C class was extraordinarily cheap.
-The front and rear seats are the same material! My C class had the optional front seats with perforated leather, surprisingly, the rear seats were non perforated MB tex, another blatant cheap shot!
-If anyone was wondering, since that seems to be a concern among many, the door lock pins are the shiny, knurled metal ones, they don't say AMG.
-Fuel economy seems to be right on the money, I'm getting 26 MPG highway. The c400 was actually doing a little more than EPA at 30.
-The optional MB all season floor mats are the good old fashion, deep RUBBER, not the more common, newer plasticky type. Furthermore, the standard fabric ones have a stitched not glued AMG logo. I never use the fabric ones given that in northern WI we have snow for 5 mths or so!
-The trunk cargo well is nice and deep, but as others have pointed out, will not fit any type of spare.
-I'm surprisingly satisfied with the Pirelli Pzero runflats. They have excellent handling characteristics without being unduly harsh or loud. An excellent showing for such a tire given the very short sidewall. Maybe the first OEM tire I will not be in a hurry to swap.
-The glove box is kind of a joke given that the "fragrance dispenser" eats 50% of it up, besides the manuals not much fits in there.
-The door cup holders are shallow, they'll hold a cup, but a water bottle is a stretch. On the other hand, the door storage are is noticeably wider than on the C class.
-If you get any options on your E 43 the absolutely essential one is the quiet comfort package, worth every penny.

haha, yes the sunshades are awesome. However, in practice, the secondary front facing shade is not that great. Its more narrow so sun comes through on the corners.

FRUSTRATION...

My new baby arrived on the 19th of may.. but my old lease ends on 25th July

I though of gonig to the dealer to have a lil' look at her but fear this will just add to the frustration + I'll probably just drool all over her...

 

Just pay off the 2 mths and that's it.

Extra soundproofing in the windows, doors and floor. Makes a very quiet car almost completely silent.

 

Nice---what is the price of that package? If it's only a few hundred dollars, you would think that should come standard in a car of this caliber. I suppose that's "standard" in S-class?

 

in france it's 1400 eur, but you need the executive or fascination version - it's not offered on the basic model
