First E43 full tilt run!
Well, break-in is over! Though not timed yet, Im guessing that Car and drivers 4.2 sec test is right on the money. First thing, despite AWD the car will break loose when shifting from first to second activating the traction control and killing the fun right there. To do acceleration runs you must set the traction control to sport mode. The car is most definitely underated in the torque department given the fairly low rev limiter and the 400hp rating. This puppy is a true Jekyll and Hyde. My love affair just got a lot deeper. This car rocks. AMG light my butt

It can probably hang with the older v8s on short runs due to the tranny and the 4wd. Im sure the v8 will start walking away around the 1/4 or so. But, by then you are well over 100 mph. Its truely fast indeed.

I had no idea the E43 was that fast. I just looked up the coming E63. It clocks in at 3.3 seconds which is neck-snapping. And then there is the Tesla S P100D which beats everything on the road a 2.3 seconds. I test drove the "slower" P90D in December. Its acceleration was simply unbelievable.
Me? I'm plenty happy with my turtle-esque 6.2 seconds. Anything more just gets me into trouble.

The tesla is extremely quick but not fast. Remember it has only 1 gear so it can only go as fast as the engine can turn. After 2 or 3 full speed runs it needs a rest and/ or a charge. They routinely get smoked in quarter mile runs. I dont see the fascination with a car that has essentially an elevator motor hooked up to a bunch af batteries.
