There is a map update available for my (UK) car. Unfortunately, MB seems to require Adobe programs for the download to work.

If I try with Firefox, it asks for Adobe Air, which is actually installed and updated.

If I try MS Explorer, it asks for Adobe Flash, which is a no no in my company.

Is there any way to get these downloads without the intervention of Adobe?

BTW, the update is marked as "Manual download only."

I've downloaded maps updates with Firefox but I had to try for days, if not weeks.

Initially the website indicated that new maps are available but only manual download is possible. At that phase the download manager seemed to download the selected updates but failed to write the data to the memory card (no failure message given).

I then kept trying every now and then and eventually succeeded. I noticed at that point the website had changed to state that automatic updates too were possible.

I wanted to do it manually since so many (MBClubUK forum members) had had issues with the automatic option.

Can't you take care of the download with a personal computer if you wanted to try IE and if your company policy does not allow IE?

In the end, I just waited until I got home and it worked fine on my own PC with Firefox.
When I took the USB stick to the car, I noticed that there was a map update over the air in progress.
I managed to stop that and load V7 from the USB stick.

Is this COMAND Online or Garmin maps?

I'm now downloading Scandinavia and the rest of Europe which, somewhat bizzarely, includes Mongolia!

You sure it's the latest update? The Mongolian empire haven't ruled eastern Europe for over 700 years. The map version you're downloading may be missing a couple of roads

Lol - Mongolia is definitely on the list! However, to your point, if I recall correctly it was a small file size, so probably a paucity of roads...

All the thingiestans are in there too - over 22GB not including the UK, (which also had the Faroe Islands).

Unfortunately MB has locked this down.

To download the map updates, you have to log into your Mercedes Me Portal which is linked to your account and by extension your licence number and VIN.

The downloaded maps will only install in the car related to your account.

I tried to install a downloaded set of maps that worked in my car (about 28GB in total) into a colleague's e Class but the car required a licence number to continue. That's a pity because it means another 28GB download is required!

Dont install all the map data at once, it is not recommended, it will take a very long time and the risk of errors increase.

It took around an hour to upload into the car's system but the process worked perfectly for me.

Nevertheless, I agree that doing the upgrade in smaller "bites" is a lower risk method and the system is geared up to work that way. Some people might not even bother updating every far flung country (Mongolia, I'm thinking of you!)

It is a comfort to me to know that, if Arnsbrae should decide to drive to Ulan Bator for a strengthening dinner of yak yogurt, he will have all the latest maps at the ready.

Argh damn it. Mercedes Me services don't exist in either Malaysia or Australia, so I guess I'm SOL.
