Designo leather, worth the 5000$ ?

I am thinking of gaving the Beige Designo Nappa leather instead of the normal leather, is the designo weather worth the 5000! $ upgrade, the car is E 350e plug in hybrid, what did you find special about it, and what you found annoying about it (( other than keeping it clean ))

No, its not worth just like 5k for an upgraded stereo but they are options for those that "must have it". Im guilty of the same I spent 500 bucks for the alcantara steering wheel.

For $5000 the designo leather option should include leather and alcantara everywhere. I believe in the W213 there are still some MB-tex covered surfaces. Back in 2015, the designo option was only $4300 for my S and almost every syrface but inside of the side door pockets was covered in designo leather, including the area behind the reclining rear seats. The overhead door grab handles, under the front dash board, the lower portion of the front center console, and the side sills were also covered in designo Silk Beige leather. Yes, it is a pain to keep clean, however it is worth the trouble to have softer leather and a unique interior.

I like the real leather that one of my cars has instead of the MB-tex. I think the next owner will thank you for purchasing it, but it won't really add to resale value. It's probably cheaper on a lease where you won't be paying the full amount for the option. Cars that might have 10k worth of options over a basic P1 car don't actually command much more used, they just tend to sell quicker because dealers just go by book value and the book value doesn't always include all the high priced options so they have almost no value. So the ones with the options sell first and the ones without tend to linger longer. If you're going to keep it for 10+ years, then maybe it's worth $500/year for nicer furniture.
