Current Pre-Paid Maint & Extended Warranty Pricing

Bought a new 2017 4Matic which I intend to keep for the long term (my last car, Porsche Cayenne was 12 years old).

Curious if anyone has found better than $1475 for first 4 maintenance cycles (A-B-A-B)? That seems to be the floor that I have found so far.

Also, the best ELW I have found for 2yr/75k has been $1600 ---- anyone find better than that?

Any insights are appreciated!

Thanks

Did you try the vendors mentioned in the extended warranty subforum? They might also do the maintenance packages too but others have mentioned that there's not too much profit on those so there doesn't seem to be a big if any discount on them. The best bang for the buck is typically on the 3 maintenance package especially around the 60-80k range when certain major items come up. You buy it when you're due for B-A-B not A-B-A.

Yes, I did check with a few of them.

On the maintenance side, I did see that advice seems to be pay for first yourself and then buy the next 3 to save some money. Though there seems to be some question if you can buy pre-paid after the first 10k maintenance or not. Also, curious what the pricing has been for those who did buy the 20k/30k/40k after the first 10k.

I paid about $1,100 (no tax) for a 3 pack about 3 years ago. Just finished using it up and I could have bought another one. You could always get a quote now on what a 3 pack would cost on an older car - just ask them.

Not sure why there is any question about if you can buy PPM after the first service. You can - it clearly states it on their website. Only difference is you can't get a 4 pack but that wouldn't affect you.

I never used to buy these packages because they would tend to end right when the big stuff comes up. And if you read what it covers, it does not cover the brake fluid change or transmission oil change. Anyway, I also tend to get coupons mailed to me.

I literally just had my first A service done two days ago, and it has a price of $300 for just the oil change. I dont remember it being so high in the past, first A was always just under 200 for me. So these services are really creeping up in price. It is literally just oil change and fluid check. Good thing I had a coupon for 100 discount on anything over 200

I think you can still buy them as long as the car has less than 80k. I guess they're getting tougher on them, in the past people said they were a good deal because they covered the transmission and brake flushes. They're also good for the spark plugs too, but they were trickier on a 60 degree V6, probably simple on a 4 cylinder.

I got it from Dan at MB Austin. He was one of two names mentioned frequently in the warranty forum (at that time 4 years ago) who would discount and sell over phone. No idea what he'd offer now. Prices have probably gone up. Have you checked the warranty forum on here?

There should be no sales tax if the selling dealer is in another state. At least there wasn't 4 years ago.

Well those same ELW finance folks sell the PPM usually. So I would contact some of those same folks for pricing. Is your car under 80k miles to be eligible for PPM?

If you use American Express, there are coupons for A & B that you an get with points. It's not a terribly bad conversion either.

I paid $1475 for 4 years. Considering an oil change is $300, it was worth it to me.

Not to appear elitist, but $1,400 at even 5% returns $70. Not an amount to be of concern to most using this forum. It’s easy to overthink things like this....
