Geofencing and Mercedes Me

The Mercedes Me portal online has an option to define geofencing for the car. I have set this option and selected my area's. I can also see that it is registering when I leave and enter the area's that I have marked. It shows the list in the Mercedes Me portal.

But I thought this feature was intended for if my car gets stolen that I would get a notification when it leaves the area. But I never get any notification. That may be because I'm in the car myself and the app is smart enough to suppress the notification when I'm in the car. Has anyone ever received a notification when your car left the geofenced area?

The car is a E220d 2017 model.

it should notify you even if u have phone with you.

however maybe it doesn't work because:

1- you havent set how you want to receive messages (sms and/or email)
in the main screen click top right on the little "wheel", then settings.

2- you didn't set the start & finish time correctly. it's a bit confusing with the 2 sliders:
you actually have to drag the left slider past the right one in order to go to the next day

3- the fenced area is too small (ie the car is not actually in the area you choose)

4- you are parked underground. in this case it could be that the last position that was sent to the server
is actually outside of the fenced areas (because the car sends the position only every 2-3 mns or so)
so this would mean the car is outside your fenced area.

The 2nd scenario is what happened to me and thus I increased the fenced area.

btw: my area(home) is activated from 0830hrsam, till next day 7am and only when the car LEAVES the area.
this way I have a (sms-less) window of 1.5hrs when I go to work

.

Thank You!

I just found the notification setting hidden in de web app. I have enabled this and will try to see if it is working.
