I tried doing some of what you were doing and none of it worked. Does anyone know if all the features are available on '17s as well? I tried voice commands for increasing temps, fan speed, etc....nada.

I really ought to read the manual!

Tried it again and it found the closest contact's name to "turn volume down"
Then I've tried to turn the climate control fan down by first saying "climate control" and it indeed moved to the climate control sub menu. Then I have said "fan level down" and it heard fan level 1 so I've tried fan level 4 and it indeed changed it to 4. Then to go back to radio, I've just said radio and it moved back to radio sub menu.
Is that the right way? First say the sub menu name and then what I want it to do?

The Linguatronic system evolved in the 2018 models, much more selectable features and different language options.
Unfortunately do not know if it is possible to update the 17 model to this system.

Hey Vic I was hoping it would be an update but doesn’t look like it, as I just had my car in for service and any updates available were performed on my vehicle at that time...Damn that sucks!

Are you sure they updated the COMAND head unit?, that is a pretty complicated and lengthy process.

What is the most recent firmware and/or version on the Command software?
This way I know exactly what to ask for.

I believe 2017 can only activate the climate control menu but you cannot change any settings. Fan speed may be reduced simply to reduce noise, helping linguatronic interpret your voice commands.

Moreover you can also change the temperature by saying "temperature warmer/colder/XX". I'm not a native English speaker but it mostly understands what I want.

I got confirmation that it isnt possible to update prevous models to the new Linguatronic system, .. as of yet.
The Germans are currently investigating if it is possible for a software retrofit, apparently the hardware is different in the two systems making a software fix problematic.

Forgot to report back but I did make it work by saying "fan level up" or "fan level down" or "fan level XX" and it changes its level to whatever XX is.

Perhaps voice control is so advanced now that it isn't possible to explain every command in the manual like manuals for older cars did.

It is from the 2018 E400 Coupe's manual. I created the PDF of the voice commands so that I can print just that portion of the 487-page tome and have it available for reference both in the car and on my computer. It's a rather overwhelming list of possible commands (eight pages of them) that will take some time to memorize. I thought others might be interested in doing the same.

I’m not too fussed about the voice commands for functions which are operated by a single push of a button on the dash...navi & telephone operational voice commands are useful.
if there are operations that you use regularly which require multiple button presses and menus try to establish if there is a suitable voice command that can be used instead...one I use quite a bit is “STATION (name)” to tune the radio, the kids object to my favourite 80s music radio station when they get in the car!.

A separate PDF on voice commands is useful but at the car I would prefer linguatronic help rather than reading a pdf, obviously while driving but even when stationary.

I welcome anything that helps keep my eyes on the road these days, what with seemingly every other driver more involved with sending their oh-so-important emails and texts to their "friends" rather than paying attention to the task at hand. Defensive driving is now more critical than ever.

For once I was right. I knew I missed something. Your message said it is the 2018 version, you should have included that to the document title (for me). Is the Coupe the same as the 2018 Sedan by the way?
