What is the wheels offset value for E400 sedan?

Hello everybody... does anybody know the actual offset for the E400 (2017) 4Matic 4 door (in Canada).. I have ordered a set of winter wheels 18 X 8, Bolt pattern 5X112, offset 38, center bore 66.6, but the shop cannot install as they say offset too high and is hitting the brakes. The official offset is only 45, so 38 should have enough clearance, right? Correcting.. the official offset is 43, not 45.

Can anyone confirm that my wheels should / should not fit? Do I need to order a new set of rims?

I guess I've posted MB's wheel guide for 213 in this forum a dozen times...

Thank you 78degrees... I was incorrect in the post,... the official is ET43, not 45. My question is that a 38 offset should fit?

If so, I will follow up with the shop, else I will have to get new rims, and for the new rims, I should get less than 38? Like 35 offset?

Thank you again.

Thank you ua549... The shop is now saying that I should get a ET32 rim, and that my E400 is a performance version. AFAIK, there is no sport version of the E400, so now the decision is... is dropping from a ET43 to ET32 a lot... from your link above, I see that the only problem is the :

"Positive scrub radius (about 11 mm). Scrub radius will be changed by 11 mm, this may affect the car's handling. Please check manufacturer recommendations "

Is that serious? Please advise.

Update... The shop has test mounted the wheels with ET38 offset and is hitting the brakes and cannot be mounted, in fact, they have tried to test mount a ET35 and it still hits the brakes..too bad they did not look at my current wheels when they had it off the car.

So now.. despite all the info saying that my wheel should have ET43, it looks unlikely.
Can anybody please confirm : if you already have taken off your summer wheels of a 2017 E400 4MAatic, PLEASE check what is the offset stamped on your wheels. Thank you so much.

Please anybody? Is the online info that the 2017 E400 4 door sedan should have an offset of 43 is wrong? Please confirm if you have already mounted your winter tires, just check your summer wheel's stamp. Thank you.

Why not check your own stock wheels? The E400 sedan is not for sale in the US.

Understood...its just that it is winter tire season here in Canada and all shops are too busy to take off my tire just to read the stamp.. was hoping that someone already has their summer tire off so they can just read it, else it will likely take me a couple of weeks to get appointment to read the current wheel stamp, then another couple of weeks to order the replacement wheels...Anyway, in case the factory offset is really 43 and now I move to an offset of 32, do you think it will be okay, moving 11mm is a lot, isn't it?

Hi, I am getting my winter tires with rim too.

I tried 245/45R18 with RIM width 8 and offset 42 which is original and 35 which is the after market rim I am getting, the comments at bottom looks all good.

Not sure what you are having for E400, but I guess the rim and tire size should be similar or even the same.

Thank you sonichanxiao... I just got confirmation with the shop yesterday that my OEM wheels are in fact ET43, so I am now ordering a new set of wheels 18 X 8 ET42, which is as close to the OEM specs as possible. Will post back the results. I do not know yet why the last set did not fit... they were ET38, and should have fit.

I checked the one my shop ordered is offset 35, and on that website, it shows perfectly fit. I guess it would only cause problem if it is a big difference between the original offset and the aftermarket rim offset, otherwise it shouldn't be any problem.

You are correct.. I just do not know what is a 'big difference'.. you are moving your offset from 43 to 35, that's 7mm. My shop originally suggested that I move from 43 to 32, 11mm. There is no guideline out there to say how 'Big' a difference is acceptable. Please see post # 4 above from Ua549, he has a link to show what the different offset will do to the Scrub Radius, My understanding stops there... I have no idea what is a Scrub Radius other than it has something to do with steering, and I certainly do not know how much can you differ from OEM is safe, that's why I am trying to stay as close to the OEM as possible.

If someone can give a guide as to how much offset can be moved and still be safe and how much will affect the performance of the car........

I just checked with Mercedes parts department, they don't have a guideline for offset. But the store who sells them should have a chart or a list which the rim would fit to what cars.

I googled online and checked on this site www.wheelwiz.ca, found out the ET35 is OK for my model. I believe yours should be the same, but yeah, ET32 might be too close to the car body, but anything around 35-38 should be good.
