I have a 2017 Valentine One hardwired into my truck mirror wire harness with a mount by the mirror. It was very easy to install and I used a wiretap kit for the backside of the OEM mirror wire harness clip. I'll do some digging to see if i can remember what the kits were and where I bought them.

That being said, don't you think it'll constantly leave bogus alerts given the amount of radar systems built into the car? My V1 picks up K band Blind Spot Monitors on cars every now and then.

Radar Detector Hardwiring

Is it a Mercedes truck i purchased mounts for my Radar Detectors from Blendmount and the mirror tap. They don’t have them for Mercedes so I️ am going the old fashion way with suction cup mount. The dealer said be careful cause there are so many computers
I️ found a fuse box in the kick panel on the passenger side trying to find which fuse to tap???

I too have a V1.

None of the passenger footwell fuses in my E400 are switched. So I took my car to a garage and they ran a wire forward into the engine compartment as that was beyond my competence level. Good luck.

The fuse diagram should be tucked next to the fuses in the fusebox in the trunk. I have the same issue as gorillamunch - all fuses in the left dash and right footwell fuse panels of my E400 coupe are hot, which is odd.

Exactly. I had wired off the fuse box in the passenger footwell & was turning my V1 on & off many ally.

Then I had my wagon in the local garage getting the winter tyres installed and asked the guys to see if they could figure it out. They wired through to the engine compartment. Don’t ask me how!

Just curious which side you went up the a-pillar. Looks like driver side would be the easiest. I've tried to drop the overhead control panel to try to tie into the garage door opener power, but can't seem to get it to open like it did on my other MBs.

There should be a software update for that.

Mounted to the right of the mirror, up into/under the headliner, down the passenger a pillar and behind the rubber seal down behind the plastic into the passenger footwell fuse box.

Hmmm. As stated before the passenger-side fuse box one contains non-switched fuses making it less desirable for RD's. Does yours turn off with the ignition? If so, could you just remove the fuse box cover and take a snap?

All the cars fuses are essentially "Unswitched" sort off. In fact many are switched, like the USB port, however, the switch is not the ignition button, its the cars computer system. The computer determines when you are out of the car and then switches them off.

I have no issue with that statement but like to be specific. We have been hard-wring radar detectors and dash cams for years and every model has specific fuse locations that work for these applications. Let's name the fuse number or have a pic. That will help get it done

I havent done it myself, just commenting on the switched unswitched issue. One that is certain is the front console USB.

Front fuse box was not helpful for me - even the "switched" sources remained live when ignition was off if there was an electrical load applied. I also found that the use of the front fuse box caused other circuits to remain live. For example, I used the instrument panel circuit, which was supposed to be switched, it remained live at all times. Even with the camera set to shut off automatically, it caused the ambient lighting and instrument panel lighting to remain on when the car was switched off.

That convinced me that I didn't understand the electronics well enough to install a dash cam, so I took it out. I still wish I could figure it out.
