Does anybody have the part number for the factory roof rack cross bars for the 2017-18 wagon?

How’s the noise from the roof rack?

How’s the noise level from this rack?

Dont buy the OE racks, they are noisy as hell, go for the Thule low profile rack instad.

Have the OE and they are slim line, not square bars. To me they are absolute ok but then I had square bars before...

I almost thought that OE was OEM from Thule since the price is almost same ankr design in pictures looked the same

no OE is not Thule, I think Thule is a tad cheaper than the Benz racks.
Thules low profile mount with their wing bar (aerodynamic profile) makes any load or roof box come closer to the roof greatly reducing wind noise.

Any advice on on these for a 2017 W213 E400 Wagon?
The Thule kit seems 2x the cost of MB OE rack
Both are aero.

Thule vs MB OE

I have Rhino rack bars from my ML W164, but I can't find a feet kit from Rhino.

Thule vs OEM

I think Thule is more sleek look than OEM, also it is easier to sell Thule than OEM when you returned your leased car.

Thanks Dave - hopefully I'm in this vehicle for the long term, so maybe cost isn't the highest priority.
Also thinking about a stealth hitch, which is about $1K installed.

One of the Thule roof racks for the wagon rails is Aeroblade Edge 7603/7602 (narrower in the rear). These bars look great and are very easy to install/remove. However, my experience includes loud whistling noise between 30 and 60 mph. Does not matter if the bars were bare, where they were on the car, or how far apart they were. Ultimately tracked this whistling to the channels which are on the underside of these bars. Solved it by buying some film paint protection strips and applying them to the underside of the bars to smooth the airflow over those channels.

If you are looking to transport bikes, ditch the roof rack idea and get a Stealth Hitch with a tray hitch rack. Much more convenient and safer.

Many thanks for that reply, yes, good idea on the strips, my ML Rhino Rack aero had rubber to fill in the channels.

I definitely like the idea of the hitch, but have a tandem as well as singles, so will still consider the bars..

I have the same rails and naty a problem worth sound. From the look of your photo, it appears that they are too far forward. Can't tell for sure because of the angle.

I start my first rail behind the sunroof and the second one at least 70 cm behind it.

Anyway, you already solved the possible so good on you.

Thanks. I played with the location and with the distance between the crossbars but never could get it to stop whistling. However I had two other locating restrictions, so maybe without those limitation I could get the rack to STF without covering the underside channel.
1. The bike racks I was using are the Yakima Front Loaders. The front mount is fixed, meaning the length of the bike rack starts where your front cross bar is. With a wagon it means there is a limit to how far your front crossbar is before the back of the bike rack tray hits the trunk door spoiler when it is fully open. You can also keep hitting the spoiler with your rear bike wheel when loading.
2. The sun roof - I wanted to be able to open the sunroof even with the bike racks attached. You start losing clearance with the clamps and bolts that hold your rack on the crossbars, depending on what type you are using. In my case it was the Yakima Universal MightyMount. I had to cut the bolts shorter so the open(ing) sun roof would not hit them.

You expect 20 minute relatively simple installation project, and it turns into a half-day 3 dimensional puzzle.
In any case, all First World problems.
