Faulty HUD. It'll need replacing. Go to dealer. They'll try a software update, tell you it's fixed, then it'll happen again a week later.

Not at all. I rely on the HUD as it is easier than looking down at the dash. One gets used to them. My '08 BMW 535i came with one.

Nice to have, but hard to see with polarized sunglasses. You have to tilt your head left or right.

This is true. Polarized glasses pretty much make it useless. I love it nevertheless.

I guess I'm fortunate that I've never had to wear sunglasses in the car. The IR blocking glass and tinting works well for me in the tropical Florida sun.

After I had the car for a couple weeks I went on a vacation. Late one day after a lot of driving the HUD display started to fade out starting in the upper left corner and the fade got larger until nearly all that was left was the lower right corner. Stopped to eat and when I started it back up and the problem was gone. Later in the drive it started again but I finished the drive before it got really large. No problem since, just that one day.

in the manual it says if the HUD starts fading press the HUD button (left of steering wheel) to turn it off then back on. Try that next time.

Ive had the blue lines one time but it went away after restart. I took a picture and was planning to bring it up at next service.

I saw a message that said Head up Display inoperable or something like that.
But after I restarted the car it was fine.

EQE 500 4MATIC replacing EQC 4matic AMG line P
I have had the blue lines on several occasions usually after a short stop in hot weather. Always goes of it's own accord after restarting following a longer stop. I put it down to some sort of coding glitch rather like the way media and radio output can refuse to work again after a short stop.

not just the hud, I find the infotainment screen quite annoying too. I have both of them off most of the time after sunset.

It happened yesterday to my 2017 S213 after short stop in hot weather. As described it went away after few minutes driving. I spoke with my mechanic and he told me it is known software issue with the capacitors timing and it takes approx 1 hour of programming to fix it.

When the temp in my car hits 100° F the HUD stops working. After the car cools down it starts working again.

Thanks for this useful to know what is happening and ties in completely with my experience which is always after a short stop and usually in hot weather. An irritating but nothing to worry about problem. Much appreciated you took the time to post thanks
