Random doesn't seem to be so random
I play music from 2 USB sticks which have almost 10,000 songs on about 700 albums. I like to set the playlist to randomly play tracks. It works fine but it seems certain albums come up more often than others. I realize double and box set albums have more tracks and a greater probability of being chosen. But they come up, what seems, too often while others seem to never be chosen.
Does anyone know how the system randomly picks the tunes?
Thanks,

aaah the great random question.. many people have asked the same about the iPod and
books have been written about it. (movie coming soon)
From what I've always understood it depends on where the file physically is on the HD/USB,
because "random" never picks from the WHOLE drive but only "near the song it's currently playing.
What you can try is to reload your songs to the USB, but before doing so organise them on your PC
by artist, or song or album, or size.
This way they'll be placed in a different order on your USB, which should result in a different shuffle.

At least you get some random. On my 221 it randomly picks one folder then plays everything in that folder in order, then moves to the next folder in the list NON randomly.....hmm

I have 5000 tracks on my drive, they do seem to play randomly. They are all FLAC files and sound splendidly through the "plain" Burmester. My previous drive is only 128Gb and completely full. Im transferring the data to a new 256Gb UltraFit 3.1 drive. I love those little drives, they are basically the size of the USB connector itself so they take no space at all. Anyone around here remember 5 in floppy and their "whopping" 1.2Mb storage? That is 213 thousand times more storage in a waifer <1/20th the size. AMAZING!!!

As bad habit says if you go onto the mercedes portal you can see what the latest version for your car is, in your area it should update over the air but for other areas you have to do it manually.
