2018 E Class easy entry/exit feature
We have just recently picked up our new 2018 E400 and were surprised to learn that the easy entry/exit feature does not work on our vehicle. During the buying process, we constantly asked about this feature to make sure that it was installed on our vehicle because I have mobility issues and have difficulty getting in and out of the vehicle. All the vehicle will do is raise the steering wheel up when you open the doors...seats do not move back to ease exiting the vehicle. Feature shows in the operators manual both hard copy and onboard manuals. Anyone have any insight on what might be going on.
In recent years they have options in the vehicle settings menu so that you can choose whether you want the steering column to move, or just the seat to move, or both. I would scroll through the vehicle settings menu in the central display and see what you can find or see if part of this feature is turned off so that you can turn it back on.

I have looked in the vehicle settings as you have described and found the easy entry/exit feature, but the only option I have is the steering wheel lift on exit. The seat retract/advance and steering wheel lift setting is greyed out.
Is it a coupe or sedan? , my guess is that your vehicle due to seat style or vehicle config doest have it. On my 43 the AMG g meter exists but doenst do anything, it only works on the 63.

My car is a sedan. I can see the easy entry/exit setting in the vehicle settings menu, but the feature to moving the seat and steering wheel upon door opening is greyed out...only steering wheel lift can enabled or disabled. I wonder if this is because I live in Canada. I feel that this feature should be available if it states in the owners manual that the vehicle is equipped with the feature. We had this feature on our last vehicle, an Infinity and found it most helpful for people with mobility issues. For God sake, even a Kia has this feature so it should not be too hard for Mercedes to do it as well.
I'm in the UK, only option for me is steering lift on exit - I don't even see greyed out options for seat movement. I read this feature was dropped from more recent mercs due to a combination of possible injury lawsuit from rear seat pax and, more likely, because it kills the seat motors.

Overall I am disappointed, it’s like every time I buy a new one I lose more features.

There may be a work around. If your car has a 3 person memory seat/mirror adjust, etc., try setting the third button to have the seat all the way back. When you open the door press nbr 3 to get the seat to move all the way back. Once in the car, press the the nbr for your personal setting and the seat moves to that setting. Reverse the procedure when exiting and the seat should stay there until you enter the car again. I haven't tried it on our ML or GL since we really don't the seat(s) to go back. Let us know if it works.

I believe that also memorizes the steering wheel position so you can have it all adjusted for memory position 3. I believe it's come up before and the W212 never moved the seat back also. I disabled mine because there were always stories of how it would break if you put your weight on the steering wheel while it was moving up or down, it'd break a little gear that only engaged when moving the steering wheel.
I have already programmed the 3rd seat memory button to move the seat and steering wheel all the way back, but it is really not most ideal solution. Oh well, I guess we will just have to live with it the way it is. Thanks everyone for you ideas and input. The next thing I would like Mercedes to get done is the Mbrace feature. Dealership eluded that this feature would be coming available here in Canada in the first quarter of this new year. Anyone hear otherwise?

It’s so annoying they have added the feature back on to 2019+ models, but refuse to activate the feature on 2018 models. I’m sure if someone had a dealer diagnostic tool they could go into the car configuration file and activate it. The problem is Mercedes has no aftermarket software tools like BMW, VW/Audi/Porsche, or Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
