Delivery of 2018 E43
Finally took delivery of my 2018 E43 after 7 months. Big change from my 2011 Cayenne S. The handling is excellent together with great speed. Big difference between the biturbo 6 and the bark and power of the Cayenne’s V8. Can’t wait until I can use the sport and sport + engine selection. The finish of the interior and comfort of the seats easily equals or surpasses the Porsche. My one disappointment is the burmeister. Can’t get any depth out of the rear unlike the Porsche that seemed to have more power and a better ability to surround the driver and passenger with music. Anyone know of shops that would add additional elements like a rear subwoofer, or additional rear speakers in the NJ area?

I would be interested in hearing about your decision to move to MB vs Porsche and also from SUV to a sedan. I for one am considering a move from a sedan (Audi A8 swb) to something more versatile. If I went back to MB though it would be for a wagon. Appreciate your thoughts.

Looks nice and very similar to mine. I also traded in a 2014 Cayenne S for my E43. I was looking to get away from a bigger SUV and back in sport sedan. It was either the E43 or I was looking really hard at a Macan Turbo. Glad I chose this. I've already got a tune in mine from Eurocharged. Very impressed so far.

The Cayenne was my first Porsche and was likely the favorite car I have owned. Reliable, great design, powerful and fun to drive. Build quality was excellent and it felt it. It was equally suited to back roads, highways, tailgating and NYC. Moving to the E43, I wish I had another garage to keep the Porsche! When I decided to look for a new car, I had no idea what I was looking for. Although I loved the Cayenne, I did not want the same car twice in a row (nor did I the Cayenne S with a six cyclinder in it). When I test drove the BMWs, they didn't compare. It was then that I realized I was a bit spoiled in the Porsche for 6 plus years! Yet, once I drove the Mercedes CLE Coupe, I realized that build quality and handling were approaching what I had been experiencing with Porsche.
No doubt, the handling of the E43 is superior. I am really enjoying being back in a sedan with its strong power and handling after 10 to 11 years in an SUV (had an Acura MDX before the Porsche). In addition, I love the supportive seats, not to mention the P3 package. Otherwise, the only other challenge that I am now facing is the horrible crashing sound when my 19 inch wheels hit the huge potholes in NJ.

Nice! How's the ride with the 19's? Can you post a pic of your E43 from the side so I can have a look at the wheels? I opted for the 20's on my 2018 E43 (took delivery in Nov) and the NYC roads are killing me

Yeah. I’m in northern Ohio and the roads here suck. Potholes everywhere! This is my daily driver. I have an 07 997 turbo for summer and track driving so I wanted something that I didn’t have to fear bending the rims. Here’s a few pictures of the 19 inch wheels. I have my car lowered with the Renntech lowering module.

Mikephotos, my wheels are identical to dguth’s. I am very pleased with the look of the 19 inch wheels. The tire sidewall is only a 40. , so they look great. These are clearly the lowest profile that I have owned. Hoping it was not a mistake passing on the wheel and tire package. I just couldn’t justify the cost, which seemed to equate to approximately 3 to 4 Full tires and wheels.

Thanks, guys. Those 19's have a ton of rubber on them Looks great too. I passed on the wheel/tire package also since I never had an issue in the past 3 years with our CLS550. New tire and wheel repair total was $600 hopefully that's the first and last time...

MBWorld Fanatic!
You will never get any audio power "from the rear" given that the subs are in the front! Its not a boomer, its a piece of fine high fi. Its a singer not a screamer, though ACDC sounds quiet fine and loud through it ! Try some some flac files through it, No car stereo is more accurate and natural sounding. Play with the surround modes, some tracks sound better with it off.
Congrats, I love mine and after 12ķ its still perfect!

Yes. Only mods on mine are tinted 15%, lowered with Renntech module and Eurocharged tune. The only additional thing I think the car needs is a more aggressive diffuser and spoiler. The rear of the car seems a little flat/rounded compared to the rest of it.

I would recommend Perzan Auto Radio in Philly. I live in Hopewell NJ and looked for the 'best' car audio place I could find. I've had four previous custom audio installs from various dealers in the general area. Some were good, some not so good.
I spoke to David at length about how I should order my E-Class, explaining I was a little nuts about audio. I asked if the High End Burmester was worth the upgrade or could I do better putting that cash into a custom install. David told me he'd heard the high end Burmester in a Porsche and it was very good. To his credit, his advice was get the High End Burmester. If you feel you need to make adjustments we can do it then, but you might like it just as is. It says a lot that another audiophile has a pretty high opinion of the High End Burmester, and that he's honest enough to give and opinion that might cause him to lose cash.
If you look at their website you can see they've done a lot of high-end car installs. David is also thinking of getting an E-series, so he knew all about that system and the challenges of putting in good audio.

I just upgraded my ride to the 2018 E43 and find the 20's a bit of a harsh ride. What widths and offset did you get on the 19's you have on your e43? Did you still keep the staggered fitment. Would really like to hear your feedback. BTW, I like the style and we have the same color E43!!
