2018 E300 AC button on when using heat?

i assume this is normal? but I've got the heat going and the AC button is on, is this normal?

its air CONDITIONING so it's not only to create cold air..;
of course you can switch the a/c off if you want.
hot hair +a/c is nice when you got fogged up windows. the a/c takes the moister out of the air

As I understand it - yes. When the climate control is set to auto, the AC compressor runs anytime the outside temperature is above freezing - regardless of what temperature the climate control is set to. Most cars so this, because the AC compressor acts as a dehumidifier to prevent the inside of the windows from fogging up.

If your engine is hot, not cold from just start after overnight parking. You can just turn on the air and set to e.g. 20 degrees Celsius and just let the car's engine heating the air from outside into the car. This is what I do most of the time.

Don't use circulated air, it will fog your window quickly.
