My guess is that he's either being told by MBUSA to stonewall me (conspiracy theorist here!) or he just forgot over the course of vacation/busy-ness that he'd ruled out the wheels, that I'd had them repaired several times previously, and that the vibration requires a very precise speed range to reproduce.

Getting closer and closer to calling a lawyer. Anyone know about jurisdictional issues, if I want to bring action against MBUSA for selling me the car like this and not fixing under warranty?
Oh wow... thought you might have had something going... but looks like even this case went down the drain...please keep us updated!

I had similar issues and it drove me crazy fo a while. Took them 3 attempts to finally get it right. First thing is I had aftermarket rims and was told that the front right and rear left were bent. I was also told that the front rotors were replaced. The rear had a bit of rust but should try replacing the rims first since they were $800

I replaced the rims with my OEM originals and still had similar issues. Took the car back today and they replaced the rear rotors and all shimmering at high speed and braking are gone.

The issue I was told was caused from washing the car myself then parking in the garage without driving the car so the water buildup on the brake pads and rotors can dissipate first. This was a costly lesson to learn, could have paid for quite a bit of car washes.

Wow. That’s one thing that scares me having aftermarket rims. If u have a vibration they are gonna say it’s the rims automatically. Maybe that’s the slight vibration I have in my wagon is the rotors. Never been able to figure it out.

Yep, I was a bit skeptical about it been the rims but it worked out for me. They were purchased from Costco and after 2 years were able to return with 100% refund including shipping. That’s Costco service for you.

Scorpion, how many miles on your car before replacing the rear rotors?

That was 22,328, I also have the extended warranty and it wasn’t covered under anything which was surprising to me. I will do a bit of research on that though. I was willing to pay the money to get it done. Although just driving home from work only 16 miles can can say the car is now enjoyable to drive again

i had all 4 replaced by warranty, i dont think it completely fixed the issue. As a side question aren't there millions of people in the USA that would wash their car in the same way? Like in there driveway and leave as-is?

or you know, if it rains and the car is parked in the street next to the curb with water splashing it... or just parked in a rain storm

I advise everyone to contact MB and lodge a formal complaint. For those in the US the number is (800) 367-6372. All they were willing to do for me was to document the issue by vin to send to factory. As per rep unless there is a campaign MB will only cover case by case. Unless they hear from enough of us unfortunately nothing will be done about it

they changed my brakes & the problem almost immediately returned. no rain was involved. it's definitely something else that causes it..

Noticed the same issue with my 2017 E300W4 . Pre-owned picked up less than a month ago. After a snow fall. Drove around town OK. Hit the highway then whole car starts to vibrate as soon as I crossed 65mph. Roads clean and dry. Pulled off highway brushed of a bit of left over snow from front end and sides of car then issue seemed to go away for the remaining 30 min of drive.

Issue No. 2: Also noticed a soft whistling sound from engine >65 mph. Disappears at lower speeds. Believe this was there at time of purchase because it is barely noticeable when radio is on. Only heard it with radio off. Any similar experiences?

Taking it in to dealership.

Had a similar whistling issue with my 2015 CLS 400. It turned out that the plastic cover inside the engine by the cowl section (passenger side) had to be reinstalled and reset. This repair did the trick. Good luck.
