Power Folding Mirrors

How come both folding mirrors are closing at different angle? If you look at the folding mirror at closed position from the from of the car, the passenger side tucked in nicely but the driver side sits at a different angle. It looks like it doesn't close all the way. I checked with other Mercedes when I took my car in service last week and they are all rest the same way. Just wondering.

Can you post a picture showing this?

Are you referring to the whole mirror angle when it is folded in or are you referring to the actual mirror itself (and not the housing) is a different angle? I know the passenger mirror tilts down and sometimes when I turn the car off the mirror stays tilted down, even after I lock the car and the mirrors fold in.

.
I believe the reference is to the mirror housing. On my car the right housing folds to within 3" of the glass whereas the left housing folds to within 4.25" of the glass.

Drivers side mirror is larger, hence the different angles

Thats interesting. I haven't noticed it on mine until I looked at my car from a higher level while it was reverse parked.

w213 220d Aut, SE-Edition, Business Package, Night Package,
I have noticed this and it is a bit annoying.
It is as mentioned above that the housing on drivers side is bigger / thicker / larger.
Would be interestin to see how it is on right-hand driven cars...

I guess it is what it is. I did not notice until after the accident thinking is caused by the accident. The driver mirror is indeed a bit bigger than the passenger side.
The unmatched closing side mirror does not bother me as much. What bothers me more is the driver side mirror cause a blind spot while turning left. I have a hard time seeing the median/lane divider while making a left turn. I always have stick my head forward to see the blind spot. The extra mirror housing that makes the mirror fold up beautifully blocking my my sight completely.
I guess I am full with issues lol.

Same with my 2018 E300 Sedan. That said, the mirrors do not create a blind spot for me. If I do have an issue seeing traffic curbs, etc. I turn on the cameras to help guide me past such obstacles.

RHD glb 35 had different wiring harness for side Mirrors

Just wanted to add some information to this thread. While troubleshooting a non functioning blind spot indicator LED on passenger side, I took off both side glasses to realise that the wiring harness ends are completely different. The driver side has the dimming wires additionally whereas the passenger side has only heating and LED indicator.

Seems strange to have auto dimming on only one side. I have the 249 build option.

@openmb I’m chasing down a similar issue on the passenger side mirror of my UK GLB. Neither the heated function or the blind spot LED work. Did you get a resolution to your problem?

@4ndyM4C yes I did. Further to the post, I realized the factory mirror LED was intermittently working. The audible beep for blind warning always worked so I knew it wasn't the sensors. SoI bought a cheap ebay repl of the mirror with LED indicator built in and swapped it out myself. Though it came with more than 2 wires I simply used two after checking with multimeter that I was getting 5V from the harness. I used maker connector say in case I ever got an OEM reply It can still swap out easily. It cost a fraction of what the dealer wanted for the repair. Working ever since.

Sorry in my country we never use heater so I never checked for that.

Hope this helps

Thanks @openmb. I’d got as far as checking continuity through the mirror wiring but I think I’ll try the same and see if replacing the glass sorts both issues.
