I Went From a W213 to a W222 in 4 Days.

My girlfriend and I purchased a E300 on a Sunday in January.

I drove the car for a day and noticed my back was hurting from the funky sport seats.

Then on that Wednesday we gave the car back to the dealer and ended up with an W222.

Seating and comfort light years ahead.

Wow - very nice trade up. I hope the dealer was kind to you on the transaction. Really like the wheels on the S Class.

Thanks, the dealer was great. They took the car back as it had only 99 miles on the odometer and full credit given to the purchase of the S.

The seats are comfortable on the S Class, but the size of the car is an issue... Not easy to live with a car of that length.

I understand that but the car drives smaller than it is and surprised how well it handles with the AMG package. The V-6 is a great engine with good fuel economy to boot.

Yes, that's all good, but the physical dimensions bite you when you need to maneuver the car and park it. Also, others are more likely to hit it when parked because it takes so much space. The short wheel-base version would be a bit better, but it's not offered in the US.

I'm surprised you didn't like the E-Class seats, actually... I find them to be very comfortable and supportive even if they don't look like much, but I guess this can vary from person to person.

The best or nothing
Well, that's a nice upgrade.

They make the seats bad enough to make you at least think about it. The same is with the CLS. Good car, bad seats.

.
Even the upgraded seats in the E Class are about as comfortable as a hard wooden bench as are most German car seats. Sitting in them for any length of time is painful. My wife and I use additional cushions to lessen the discomfort. That said, I was aware of this shortcoming since buying my first Mercedes almost 60 years ago.

I cannot say the same about my W212. Very comfortable car. In fact all my cars are comfortable except my C Class. That car has awful seats.

Congrats on the upgrade! I'm hoping to do something similar when my lease is up. What color black is your S?

It seems you've never driven/parked a quad-cab pickup or SUV. The size of the S-Class is no issue at all.
