W213 Touch-Screen

Hi all

I watched an A250 2019 review yesterday and noticed it came with a dual touch-screen LCD dash.

I am not familiar with MB's lifecycle but wondered how soon the E class would probably get the same touch screen.

Also, I read that MB's reason for not making the original dual LCD screen touch sensitive was for safety reasons - does this mean they have dropped their safety concerns?

Nb. I ordered a 2018 E250 just last week so felt a tiny bit envious when I saw the A250 touch-screen then remembered how I hate finger prints so would probably avoid using it anyway

they way my seat is adjusted I would have to lean forward every time to tuch the screen.
though in principal would prefer it over the dial (and definitely over the touch pad!)

.
The BMW 5 Series has a touch screen attached to the front of the dash similar to the C Class. When I test drove one I found that I couldn't reach the touch screen without leaning forward and to the right. That is a serious safety issue in that a) one hand leaves the steering wheel and the other is out of position to make evasive maneuvers if required. In addition I detest finger oil smears that require continuous cleaning. My favorites are the steering wheel controls on the S Class.

Here's some info on the new COMAND, called MBUX. Coming first in the A class. Seems to me the voice part is the key to adaptation in the larger cars, as reaching the screen is more difficult

im so glad mine doesn't have a touch screen
its dumb to take your eyes off the road
Its better with the dial and or touch pad
The finger prints alone would drive me bonkers
