Direct updates to the car - Do U get them?
has anyone ever gotten them?
for instance; out of all the European maps, you can choose one that gets downloaded automatically (the rest you do via pc to SD card)
In my case I chose France.
At some point, on the website it will say that a map update for France is available and that it will be downloaded to the car automatically.
but it never does, so you end up updating it manually with all other country maps.
I also have never received any notification (in the car) about other software/firmware updates for the system.
Yet another service that MB offers, but does not work...???

I have had this twice. In the U.K. Mercedes doesn’t even pony up for 4G, so it is so slow as to be useless. When I see one starting in the car, I go to my PC and download it for manual installation. So it’s basically only useful as a notification...

How do you download maps to your PC? What is the URL you use? Do the updates include traffic camera updates too?

Not available in US. Updates must be done by a dealer. That may change in the future, a very distant future.

I've never seen any SW update available, checked many times. Map updates come so slowly that I prefer to download even local maps to my PC and then upload maps to the car.
I know remote start is important for US owners but many of us in Europe hate it. Bad for the engine and the environment. An AUX heater is much better, also for emissions.

I find this more acceptable than heating with the remote starter. The AUX heater would be better in the sense that it can cool the interior without the engine running. Not equally powerful though as only the HVAC fan is running, not air conditioning. The plugin hybrid is much better, it runs even the AC when stationary to cool the interior (without engine running).

Getting a bit off topic but would the 48 V system have enough battery capacity to run the AC for pre-cooling the cabin? I would assume yes, the AC compressor should run on less power than electric heating (which the hybrid does to pre-heat the cabin).
