Is it possible to disable foot-kicking?

On a wagon, if you kick your foot under the correct part of the rear bumper, the hatch will open, or if it's already open, it will close. The only way of avoiding being hit in the head with the hatch is to make sure the Keyless Go key is more than 10 feet or so away from the hatch. This is more of an issue for a wagon than a sedan, since the arc that the hatch makes comes out a bit from the rear bumper. On a sedan, it will close the trunk lid on your head if your foot is picked up by the sensors. In any event, we've been nearly hit by the moving hatch a few times already, so there's more downside than convenience to this "feature." I don't see an option to turn it off from the Command screen, and the manual says nothing about turning it off.

You may be able to cover the sensor.

First, I have to find the sensors. Next, I suppose I need to cover them with duct tape?

There was another thread here a long time ago. At that time the consensus was that the fuse controlling the motor was the only way to disable the hatch. I simply keep my feet or other objects from going under the vehicle.
