Stop passenger side mirror from dipping when engaging reverse gear

Hi,

As per title.

The passenger side mirror is set to dip automatically when reverse is selected. I’m okay with judging distance from kerb, so I’d rather it didn’t dip so that I can see gaps on that side...

I couldn’t find anywhere to alter that - any ideas?

That function is set in vehicle settings. In the US owners' manual it is on page 124. The parking position can be changed or the function can be deactivated.

Very easy as long as the mirror is not selected is is not selected (light on) it will not dip.

This is called the curb finder feature. It's suppose to do this to help you avoid the curb when parallel parking or backing up towards the curb.
But to make this stop, you just move your rear view mirror switch from the right position (which you do to move the left side mirror) and move the switch over to the left (which you use to move the right side mirror)
Keeping this switch on the left will stop the side mirror from dipping when you reverse.

I haven't parallel parked next to a curb in decades. I use the camera display as a guide when I park or enter a walled area.

The manual page ua549 referenced is attached.

I’m not sure that the right position moves the LEFT side mirror though.

Unfortunately, that function isn’t in vehicle settings in the U.K.

I have learned from other replies that I just need to deselect that side on the wing mirror adjustment panel in the door.

Thanks for responding - it is appreciated.

It would make sense if you were in Europe with the steering wheel on the other side of what it would be in the US

Oh, Sorry about that. I thought you were in the US.

So left and right mean something else in the UK?

Steering wheel location has nothing to do with left button = right mirror.

Steering wheel location is quite important.
If the mirror switch is toward the driver's side the passenger's side mirror will not dip.
If the mirror switch is toward the passenger's side the passenger's side mirror will dip.
In the US the left button disables right mirror dip.
In the UK the right button disables left mirror dip.

Yes of course, I was reading it as him saying that the right position moved the left mirror. He didn’t mean that.
VW and Audi also work the same way. If there’s a middle position, it will also stop the dip.

Do you believe Europe in general has the steering wheel on the right hand side?
