Do you use the electronic parking brake

The salesman that sold methe E400 was new to MB and knew next to nothing about the car. I have been dropping in on the tech guy in sales. Yesterday he told me I needed to turn the electronic parking brake on, I did not know it was there, before turning off the car. Is that a standard practice?

What was the reason given? The brake is automatically applied when shutting down:

What I should have said was did you ask him why, or just take his word for it?
I Don't just accept everything I hear without questioning.

Sorry, but this company (MB) has some of the worst salespeople I’ve ever encountered in my life.
I don’t want a pushy, lying, car salesman, but at least keep me updated and work with me if I am interested.
Ive had two test drives so far and it’s like pulling teeth to get updates from these lazy imbeciles.

I hope the build quality provides a better experience.

The expectations, however, are low.

Most dealers should have a Technology Associate available for complimentary consultation/demonstration connected to the service department. I spent a full day with the one at my dealership learning how every feature of the car worked. They really know their stuff.

Mine sets automatically (as outlined above). Is the tech guy saying that your can disable this feature, and not have the brake apply automatically?

P.S. I actually have gotten so used to this feature that I have to concentrate to remember to move the shift lever into P, and apply the parking brake, on other cars/trucks I occasionally drive that don't have this feature.

If you turn off the car while in drive, it will automatically shift into park and then set the brake when the conditions are met - undo seat belt and open the door.

Do I use the electronic parking brake? I don't really have a choice -- the car automatically engages it. FORTUNATELY, it also automatically disengages it. So, when I turn off the car the brake auto-engages. When I start the car and put it into reverse, the brake is still on. One light tap of the gas pedal and the brake automatically disengages. Completely seamless.
