Easter Egg in the Instrument Cluster

After almost two years of ownership, I think I found an easter egg that the mercedes designers left for us. Now, obviously the 213 refers to the model, but do any veterans on here know if the other numbers are random or if they mean something? Pretty cool.

I think it's a meaningless figure.

Probably, but why specify 213, which clearly means something, on the top and then have some random number on the lower half. Did the engineer/designer suddenly run out of thoughts?

111984 = Designer's birthday Nov. 1984

I literally googled November 1984 (111984) and behold; it's when the 1st E class came out.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W124

Can't be a coincidence :-)

Would be fascinating if it's true, but in Europe no one would ever write November 19, 1984 as 111984, it would be 191184, or more recently 841119. On the other hand it may indicate the engineer that programmed it was born in the US...
If the number displayed in the European versions were 191184, that would be the most ridiculous level of attention to detail I'd ever seen in any car!

Mercedes has an office in Silicon Valley, the Bay Area, and I wouldn't be surprised if the instrument cluster programming was made there.

it think it just means November (11) 1984.... (IE NOT 19 November 1984)

Exactly, in November 1984. Mercedes presented the ''first'' E class model (W124).
