CarPlay and Waze Corrected by Apple?
CarPlay with Google and Waze
When you connect your phone to Apple’s in-car infotainment system, you’ll now be able to use navigation apps other than Apple Maps. That’s a potential life-changer, since most iPhone owners we know prefer Waze and Google Maps on the road.
According to Apple Insider. Upgrade to the new iOs. Will have to see when iOs 12 comes out.

I have iOS 12 currently, and in the first form of beta it does not support Waze or Google Maps, the developers still need to update them.

MB's interface is also slower than molasses. This will change with MBUX which will for the first time offer something near smartphone quality but CarPlay is worlds above Comand.
The issue with MB's implementation is that CarPlay is only wired (unlike BMW which supports bluetooth) and the implementation on 2018 models is poor with the 2017 being outright horrible. No use of the touchpad or steering wheel controls. Really? You have to jump through hoops to move on to the next song while navigation is open...
On the older Comand units like in our 2017 SL you still have physical button that work great on music not matter what is shown on screen...
