All of this about what ship the car is on and calling the salespeople 10 times a day is hilarious if not annoying to them. You all worry yourselves to death over what is a normal process that isn't even controlled by the dealer/salespeople. That said, one area where MBUSA sorely needs to improve is their website. How can you be delivering 2019s and you still have 2018s up for building? Terrible disconnect between the product people and the web admin. The 2019s should have been up by now or a week ago.

Totally agree...as for the calling the sales people..i think the reason people are calling is because (at least in my example), I am being told (by the sales manager...not even my sales person...that you should expect it to be 1) built by a certain date and it's not 2) delivered by a certain date and it's not 3) arrive at the dealership by a certain date....None of which is true...they have zero control on when its built . They place the order, track it, and wait just like we do. They really should not make promises or allude to dates that can't be met. It sets the customer up for disappointment. Had my sales person said, look, order your car the way you want..but it make take up to a 10 months to get....then allow me to make that decision, I would have been fine with that. I kept being told...2 months...that was in january. I know my dealership is struggling because they have such limited inventory. They want to sell me my car as much as I want to buy it. MB put them in a bad position.

I actually think they put themselves in the bad position by saying 2 months when they know that they can't guarantee that and/or that they should know from experience that it will take longer. I think the safest answer is that it could take 3-4 months, maybe longer, but I'll update you whenever this is a change in status. Mercedes like many builds so many different cars in so many different places that it is hard to give a definitely delivery time on anything. The factories are building cars for the entire world in most cases and this order vs that order is matterles on the factory floor.
One other thing, If someone ordered a 2019 say like back in May, I'm not sure who or why it would be communicated that said car would arrive before Fall, i.e. when the 2019s arrive. There is a miscommunication/misunderstanding there.

AGREE 110%. Simply don't make promises you have no control over and can't keep. Saves everyone the headache...but then again if that happened...this board would be boring as f**k to read...lol

And salespeople wonder they they are generally loathed by the car buying public. I believe they feel if they're totally honest, they'd lose a sale to a person who hears X-XX months to get a custom ordered car so they give a more palatable answer and hope for the best.

2022 GLE 450 (Black on Black)
We received our 2019 E450 4Matic yesterday. However, we turned it down due to some issues with the car. We are now waiting for a new 2019 E Coupe 450 to be delivered next week. The original dealer and staff were very professional and understood the reasons for declining the vehicle.

I did that once. Not major, but I bought (paid cash no less) for a CLK 500 Cabriolet. Signed all the paperwork, did the delivery orientation, and it was lunch time when we left. We were hungry. Went to a shopping center with a Panera just down the street. Missed the curb BIGLY and pretty much destroyed a brand new AMG wheel. Went right back to the dealer and had them order me a new wheel. Most expensive lunch ever! $1200

Haibieb...since this is my first new car and a car that has been stuck in a warehouse for months...any suggestions on what to specifically look for? How badly was the door alignment? I honestly don't know if I would ever notice that. Are dealers supposed to know if dings or minor repairs occurred before you take delivery and are they required to let you know. Now you have me thinking I need to do a crazy inspection of the car...am I worrying for no reason or is that what an educated consumer should do?

Congrats on moving to D5...I am still waiting for a response from my SA hoping they know where my car is. Side story, I am walking to work here in NYC, I pass a car dealership. I hear a boyfriend and girlfriend getting into an arguement on who gets to drive her brand new SUV first. They pull out of the dealership and a BUS rams right into them. They didn't even get fully out of the dealership driveway...the whole front GONE!!
