New 2018 owner - E300 Sport, AMG Package
Time to get myself introduced here I suppose. New 2018 E300 in the family after retiring a 2002 W210. The W210 was my wife's car for the most part, and we had it for 14 years. Just under 140,000 miles and it was reaching a point of no return. Just way to many expensive repairs happening on a regular basis. We also needed some up to date technology for her, so here we are in a completely different league in that regard.
Settled on a Selenite Metallic with the Sport Package, AMG styling kit (as much as I wanted a real AMG it just wasn't going to happen this time), 19" 5-spoke wheels, wheel locks, P2 package, black ash dash/door panels, black MB tex, Warmth and comfort, LED logo puddle lights, comfort box, rear window shades, panorama roof. I think that's it. We had another one at first that had the illuminated star and rear deck spoiler, but no rear window shades but there were some issues and we settled here. I would like to add the rear spoiler on this one.
So far, this has been great. As my wife's car it was important that she is comfortable in it. She has told me it just "felt right" and like she had it for a long time. Was very comfortable in it, easily pulled into our over-crowded garage, etc. etc. We did look at other brands this was the one she ended up living. Started with a thought towards a CPO 2016 E350 that was fairly loaded and low miles but really fell in love with the look and inside and out of this model. I find it to be a bit short on headroom with the big sunroof being 6'3" with tall torso height but I'll survive. Drives great, mileage has been decent in the couple hundred miles we've driven. I know that will change over time. If there are initial concerns i'd say there are two; it is a bit louder in the cabin than I might have expected. I think some of that is the nature of a 4 cylinder motor over the 6 but who knows. The other is something we just need to learn...with the AMG body kit, and the sport lowered suspension we have to be very aware of normal things like cement parking stops. I fear damage to the bottom of the trim will easily occur and the sensors don't help much. Speaking of sensors, they seem pretty far off and will be recalibrated next week,
Other than that, looking forward to getting to know it better and get some years of great use! If I can figure out how to post a picture, I'll post a couple below...
Cheers

Great looking car - you will love it. You definitely need to watch parking stops and driveways - not as little clearance as a Corvette, but not much better.

2022 GLE 450 (Black on Black)
Enjoy your new car, its beautiful. Right now I have to choose between a 2019 E450 Coupe or a 2019 GLE43 AMG coupe. Both are scheduled to be in by late October.

Would it not annoy you to no end knowing the GLE has been completely redesigned and the 2020 will start rolling into MB dealerships in just a few months? The 2019 GLE interior is quite dated at this point. The 2020 GLE is coming with MBUX and is completely new inside and out.

Not really. My last MB was a 2018 E400 convertible with all the latest technology and whistles and was Re-Purchased by MB two months ago due many reliability issues (electronics / built quality). So each model has its quirks. For me, it is what I feel confident. And by the way the new GLE 43 coupe is not scheduled for about a year from now. By that time, I will have another 18 months to ride out the GLE 43 AMG if I choose to go with it.

At the end of the day, it's whatever you feel best sitting in and ultimately driving. Just didn't know if you knew about the new GLE coming soon? I have a buddy here on the forum from the C forum who recently traded his C450 for a GLE43 and he loves it. I originally wanted a GLE. I just know me too well and once I learned the 2020 was coming in the first quarter of 2019, I knew I'd be unhappy I didn't wait. Then I found out the E class is the perfect car for me. You're likely aware, we're trading in the 2018 E300 for the 2019 E450 I had ordered last July (which is due to arrive in Brunswick this coming weekend) and my partner now has the E400 I had.
