Same motor, very different exhaust note. I really like the Cabriolet exhaust sound better, the wagon sounds a little bit raspy and louder. The cabriolet just has a smoother sound to it and not raspy at all, especially on start up. I might have to compare the two systems and see if maybe I can fit mufflers meant for the cabriolet on the wagon, they must be different mufflers between the two cars. Don't really dig that raspy sound on the Wagon.

I am going to suggest the two exhausts have different length, perhaps that is the reason why, just a random thought.

You described it perfectly. Raspy on the wagon. It's a little annoying on startup but I've noticed that it 'settles' after getting warm. I do enjoy that throaty sound on 20-50% throttle pulls. I haven't floored it yet but I'm counting down to 1000m (at 765 presently). Very curious to hear the sound then.

Wow exactly the miles as on mine, ya, 240 miles to go to wide open throttle lol. Ya, when it's warmed up not as bad. Maybe a nice pair of flowmaster mufflers would cure this

I'm curious if either/both of your E450's have the option for the artificial exhaust note via cabin speakers? In my coupe for example, the exhaust note gets deeper/throatier when switching from Comfort to Sport, and more so to Sport+ when stopped at a light, parking spot etc. I think I have that option, need to check the datacard.

Haven't been out of Eco or Comfort yet. Dying to but religion, er the manual, is keeping me tidy until 1k miles. Will report back.

As for the raspiness, that's observed from outside the vehicle when the garage valet brings it to me.

I wonder if it is a artificial exhaust note I'm hearing via the speakers when I put the car in sport plus. The car definitely gets louder in Sport plus mode. The raspy exhaust sound on the wagon is mainly at start up and really does not bother me that much. Strange how the convertible does not make that sound anywheres near as much.
