Voice command "engine data". It will be displayed on the entertainment screen.

Thanks buddy. Will do. I have to get used to using voice control more. It's clear that it offers a ton more functionality than just the NAV or phone.

Just my $.02:

Just returned from a 300 mile trip in my 2019 E450. Very pleasantly surprised that the gas mileage, while cruising at 75 mph was north of 30 mpg!

Like others I have been "playing" with my screen, toggling between different modes, especially when I use Apple play for my navigation - returning from upstate NY to Long Island there are numerous ways to navigate through Westchester County - take different routes and/or bridges and I am more confident with Google Maps than the Mercedes navigation with regard to traffic and delays.

Back on point: I had to restrain myself from toggling between screens as I realized that my attention was being diverted from the actually driving: I just wonder if all these features will result in less attentive driving and in reality does changing the screen(s) really change the driving experience?

I can hear my wife: "Why don't you just set the screen, leave it alone and concentrate on driving" She is probably right!

She is right! Once you've set your screen the way you want, leave it alone while you're driving. Change anything you want when you're parked. I've a friend who had an accident because he was adjusting screen options in his S Class while driving. I keep that in mind and never adjust screens while driving.

That is why it is important to use voice commands when vehicle is in motion. I use voice for selecting radio stations, receiving/sending text messages and phone calls, setting navigation, etc.

I guess I never contemplated changing the gauge settings while the car was in motion. Absolutely agree, it's more dangerous that way.

That being said, it is very nice to be in distronic mode while on the expressway, to make minor settings or adjustments in the car...even grabbing a drink. I feel more confident being in the "auto driving"mode that it is a little safer. I'm not saying we shouldn't be alert with it on, it's just really nice on long drives to have the car assist you.

Back to the gauges, how many of you wish they had a few more, apart from the three that you get?

So you'ze guys got me thinking and I decided to change things up. I'm still using the Progressive display, but I moved Navigation over to the right screen (it's now 1/4 nav - 3/4 radio). On the left, I've got Trip on the left, progressive in the middle and Eco on the right. I'm not sure what Eco really does as a screen option (?), but it's kind of cool looking.

Maybe you're right. Keep media or radio on the right screen with partial NAV map. Then use the left screen for something besides media, like trip details or ECO. Will explore when I return from holiday.

I realized that having nav on the right side of the left screen, caused partial obstructed view by the steering wheel. So I'm happier with the nav screen on the left of the right entertainment screen. But I'm not sure what Eco really gets me on the primary screen other than it's cool looking.

I would love to have a digital boost gauge on the right side of the Progressive screen. To monitor the pressure of your Turbo is interesting and kinda important....wouldn't be hard for Mercedes to do.

On the left screen I stay in Classic mode and I've settled on digital speed in center and Start Trip info on the right. On the right screen, I too am using the split screen with Nav on left/radio on right portion.

Now, I am feeling an urge to try Progressive for a few days though.

My Progressive days came and went. I think it's really cool looking, but I missed having a tachometer, so I'm now on Sport Guages, with Trip in the Middle and still using the split screen enfotainment screen with maps on the left and radio on the right. It's latest the longest in my car at this point.

Rod, Progressive does have a tach. It's an arc meter around the outer edge of the digital speedo. Admittedly, it's not as blatant as the dedicated tach on sport or classic, but it does the job. My only lingering issue with Progressive is that it doesn't have the water coolant temp as part of the display like Sport does.

I've gone back and forth between sports and progressive, but alway find my self returning to progressive. The classic gauge just doesn't do anything for me. I wish we could change the color schemes up on these gauges.

I should have said I wanted a more traditional tachometer.

I also wish we could customize the colors. While I like the Sport guage, I don't love the yellow. It just aesthetically clashes with the other colors. It's like wearing yellow plaid pants with a blue plaid shirt!

When I want temperature info I press the voice key and say engine data. It will come up on the center display.

I like the engine data voice command, but it then covers the NAV. Also, it shows oil temp and not water temp.

Rod, you are spot on...sport "could" work if it were blue.

I like the yellow. It is the same color as in a Ferrari. Consistency counts!

If it was consistent, the color would go well with the colors on the infotainment screen. It doesn't, so I don't find it consistent with the color scheme in the car. Perhaps it's a Ferrari color, but I don't own a Ferrari.

No matter what colour it is, someone will not like it. We should have choices like the ambient lighting.

I rode in a rented Mustang with electronic digital dash, and you could change the gauges to different colors... a really cool feature that I wish MB would incorporate...in addition to giving us more than 3 gauges to choose from.

In addition to what you said, it would be great if we could choose more side bar options.

Yes, this is my only issue with Progressive. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

I also like Classic and I've switched between them but never for long.

If Mercedes use the over-the-air update function to introduce some upgrades here, I wouldn't complain
