Window tinting question
Hey folks,
So I recently tinted my windows at 35 percent (I'm in Maryland) and I opted for the tinted strip at the top of the windshield. Does anyone else do that?
My place only does the strip at 5 percent It is effective at blocking the sun but a little distracting. I was just curious if anyone did anything similar to their cars and how you like it.

I used to do that dark strip on the windshield, but in my last few cars I've found I prefer it without. Similarly, I find it a bit distracting. Easy enough to fix if you don't care for it.

We're not allowed (at least that's what I was told) to tint the windshield in Florida. I don't have any color in my tint. My tint is clear nano-ceramic, so it blocks all the harmful rays and stops the heat without color.

The laws vary by state for the side windows and rear windows but for the windshield they all follow federal law I think and if I remember correctly it's not allowed. Google "window tint and your state name" and you'll come up with the answer. Here's one site I just found https://tintlaws.com/ that has a state by state listing . I would think it'd be distracting but if it's legal where you are then it's up to you. Removing it is really easy. I let my dealer do mine with Llumar ceramic film on my last 4-5 cars and never had a problem. Here we can tint the side and rear window to 70% which leaves 30% light transmission and is legal.

There is an AS1 mark on each side of the windshield (L & R) which designates the clearest portion of the glass. Also it is a demarkation showing the lower limit for a tint band placement.

Just wondering, but does anyone know what window tint comes standard on the S-Class? It has a bluish mirror look. I'd like to get that on my E-Class, but I'm not sure what brand or percentage closely resembles that of the S-Class. Thanks.

I would like to have that done. do you have any stickers that you need to place on the windshield? We have beach parking stickers that need to be replaced annually. I don’t know how I would remove them without ruining the film.

I didn't have the windshield tinted, so I can't answer this question.

Sure. Will be a few days. It's on my GTI. I had my wife's Audi Q7 done as well...Pano roof also. The perforated sunroof "guard/.shield" still made it hot in the dead of Summer.
I am buying a W212 E63s and will have the same setup as I do on the GTI: windshield, darkest legal fronts and rear as well as rear window.

i haven't tinted my windows. It came with the blackened rear windows and back window and i just never did the front 2
Don't tint your pano roof though, it will shatter in certain (hot) environments, i read.

I never have any of my windows or windshield treated with tint….I find that MB's glass to be perfect for my use. And I live in South Florida. Both my wife and I use sunglasses and does the job of blocking the sun rays..

For me, tint is more about how hot the car will get while parked. In regards to windshield tint, the sun can get pretty hot on your torso at certain times of day. But maybe that's just me.
