TuneIn not playing certain radio station - who can test for me?

(be it the car itself, or the Mercedes me website....)
Tunein, if I'm not mistaken, was primarily devised for use in Apple Car Play.

But it will not work through the tune in app on my car( 2018 e class).
Funninly the same station didn't play on the 2017 model at had prior.
But my other favourites do.

and i see now from above post that this is nothing "unusual :-(

So yet another thing that got taken away.. (albeit not directly Mercedes fault this time)
****Hi Egon,
Thanks for writing. Radio 538 has adopted HTTPS streams, which the media players of many vehicle headunits can not play, possibly Mercedes as well. HTTPS is a new and more recent and secure industry standard stream format which most broadcasters are moving to (vs the less secure and previously widespread HTTP format). You may ask Mercedes for clarification on this.
Please note this station is also legally restricted from Broadcasting in the UK.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.
Thank you for your time and patience, we appreciate your support of TuneIn.
Sincerely,
Matt

Radio 538 is one of those stations that won't play at all. ((It does tell me which song is playing on the car's screen, so somehow there is some sort of connection…)

a "specialist" which goes round France to deal with special cases
will be at my dealer next week & they will call me when het gets there.
(in any case, no further news from mercedes through their website….)

sent to mercedes me today:
****
Mister Bour
Sorry to say , but this is getting ridiculous . almost 3 months have passed and no news from Mercedes.
What kind of service is that?
My internet radio is not working as it should. This service was sold to me With the car, so I consider it an option that is malfunctioning.
As such, it is Mercedes’ responsibility to find a solution for this issue in a reasonable amount of time. - This is NOT the case here.
As already outlined in several of my other mails, “Mercedes me connect” is FAR from the quality standard that Mercedes has set for their cars.
The quality is pretty poor, as is the customer service and on top it’s scandalous how “Mercedes me” takes away certain options that came with the car.
I would like to be taken seriously and demand a solution within 1 week from now.
I fully understand that the above is beyond your personal control mister Bour, so I suggest you inform your superiors about my dissatisfaction.
Regards
Egon

they replied to me stating that it's a very specific/particular/difficult problem & that they are working hard on a solution...
so I already know where this is heading....
I also use TuneIN sometimes via CarPlay, that works as well, but I prefer the native application since there are other aspects of CarPlay that I dislike compared to the native system (like the phone interface) and I find the CarPlay integration clunky so far -- locking up sometimes, cover art issues, etc. etc.. The native Mercedes implementation of TuneIn I find more robust on the Mercedes. The TuneIn app itself on iPhone is wonderful so my CarPlay issues are part of a larger issue of poor integration between the Mercedes and CarPlay in general.
I actually run an internet radio station (True Vinyl Alternative) so this is a really key capability for me. It has been an awesome experience to easily access internet stations so conveniently.
Note that you have to have WiFi hotspot service for it to be enabled. One of our cars is constantly down in terms of the cell service which is very frustrating. For MY19 in the US the service is provided directly by ATT and so far so good since I bought the car in March.
One frustrating bug with the TuneIN native app in Command however is that you can't delete a station from the favorites unless you can access the station. This means that if a station no longer broadcasts then you can't delete it from your favorites. I really wish Mercedes would fix this, I have a bunch of these old stations on my favorites list.

( in below mail the guy is talking about the central unit…)
waiting return from dealer to make sure they indeed are able to carry out said update

update was done but . nothing changed.. (well something did change, i now have a ****ty hands free, where people can hardly hear me)
i've asked the dealer to report the problem as well because i get NO info at all from Mercedes directly
this has been going on for almost SIXT MONTHS, and all they can say is that "the technicians in Stuttgart are working on it"
(like they are working on putting a ****ing man on the moon…)
i'm seriously fed up with all the problems i had with my car. just too many for a 65k eur product...
Did you try to use TuneIN on your smartphone instead of using the build-in hotspot? Then at least it is clear it is an issue in the TuneIN MB App "only" and not (also) an issue in the MB Proxy (this proxy also has some flaws when visiting cetain websites, using certain apps/services). I will try that later today.
It is unbelievable the whole online/4G part is much worse in this version (COMAND NTG 5*5) than in the previous generation (COMAND NTG 5*2) where it was easy to use the 4G connection of your smartphone by bluetooth tethering instead of an obliged (built-in) Vodafone sim. The 4G connection via your own smartphone was much more reliable, but ok, that seems not possible anymore (in fact it is, but then you should be able to enter the "secret" Engineering Menu, which my dealer is not able (willing?) to do yet......
To "complain" a little more: also the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (BT-MAP) is not available anymore in this generation, but was very convenient to see emails of your smartphone in the COMAND display. Did some research and found out this (also) was intentionally done by Mercedes, because they want you to use the new In-Car Office functionality (but pity that only show very limited calender events for the current date and time +/- 2 hours or so).
Happily the car itself is still a blast!

but yes; streaming from phone to car works very well

that's the only thing they replied after one year; no feedback to any of my other compliants/comments/questions,
and nobody ever called me about it… their customer service is a joke.
anyway, moving on…..
is there someone that can test for me if the HTTPS radio stations indeed work now, because i no longer have internet in my car ?
go to: search / country / Netherlands / favorites / and choose radio 538 ( https://www.538.nl/ )
or add it to your favorites via your pc and then try to play in the car: https://tunein.com/radio/538-1021-s6712/
would appreciate the help because I'm sure the *******s are lying to me like they've done for a year now...
Just tested it, but it is still not working. Other (HTTP) stations like public stations such as NPO1 and also Kiss Kiev FM, etc do work.
Is there a way to upgrade the built-in TuneIN app, or to see which software version of that app is currently running?
If I look in the Mercedes ME Portal, I don't see any software upgrades available, but maybe this is something only a dealer can do?

so they lied.. again...
how can it be so difficult to do this simple update. surely a HTTPS signal is purely a software thing...?
BTW, the built-in browser now also stopped working........"Free browsing disabled"...........why? I have still 40Gb left in my (Vodafone) account (and that certainly is not free!). Can not imagine paying for this anymore, since the only 2 features are TuneIN (does not work with HTTPS, so all major commercial stations are left out) and web browsing (also NOT working anymore). All the other MB Apps (Weather, HERE, POI) work also without the paid Vodafone credits (but are unavailable several times a month....).
In the pre-facelift S63, with COMAND 5*2, all worked flawlessly, and also using the data bundle on your smartphone via Bluetooth Tethering......this is disabled by MB in COMAND 5*5.
It seems all one big scam to let you pay more for less.........let's hope somebody of MB or AMG is reading this, will also post this in the AMG Private Lounge.

went to the dealer who said there was indeed an update, though nothing mention about tuneIn in the release notes
they did the update anyway.
it did not fix tunein, but did F-up my Bluetooth (so they had to replace the whole radio to fix that..)
i am very very disappointed in the mercedes customer service which has let me down on so many different issues..

Unfortunately they could only pass the information on to Stuttgart, and they needed to wait for feedback from them - But…. "they were sorry" and "they understood my frustration"
i asked if it was normal that after a year nothing has been solved. - they said "they were sorry" and "they understood my frustration"
But they would definitely call me as soon as they have news on the matter. Meantime they said "they were sorry for the long wait" and "they understood my frustration"
