the whole "connected" side of the car is something that truly tests ones patience...
(be it the car itself, or the Mercedes me website....)

As i stated earlier, I have Tunein on Car play, and use it primarily for sport stations. It works just fine. Perhaps the software Car play provides is more suited for the app.

Tunein, if I'm not mistaken, was primarily devised for use in Apple Car Play.

I tried it again on my way home. It's, IMHO, a waste of bits and bytes and I won't be using it via Connected Apps in the Car. It did work via Car Play just fine, but then I haven't found anything on it I need to listen to more than anything else I can play, which TBH, is far simpler and more reliable.

Still couldn't get it to connect - it worked a few months ago, but for whatever reason, not connecting now. I agree, the "connected car" thing has a ways to go before it is credible and reliable.

Tune in

I listen to radio new York live via the app on my smartphone and on my laptop top .
But it will not work through the tune in app on my car( 2018 e class).
​​​​​​Funninly the same station didn't play on the 2017 model at had prior.
But my other favourites do.

Mercedes has never been very good at providing apps in their cars that actually do much. TuneIn is just yet another example. I'm paying $20/month for Wifi in my car, so I know it's not a connection issue. The app just doesn't work. But like you, I can connect my iPhone via Car Play and any station I set in favorites plays just fine.

parkwood who also lives in France, was so to kind to test for me & confirmed that station is not playing…
and i see now from above post that this is nothing "unusual :-(

So I wrote directly to TuneIn today and got an answer straight away.
So yet another thing that got taken away.. (albeit not directly Mercedes fault this time)

Thanks for writing. Radio 538 has adopted HTTPS streams, which the media players of many vehicle headunits can not play, possibly Mercedes as well. HTTPS is a new and more recent and secure industry standard stream format which most broadcasters are moving to (vs the less secure and previously widespread HTTP format). You may ask Mercedes for clarification on this.

Please note this station is also legally restricted from Broadcasting in the UK.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

dealer claims to have updated the radio, but this did nothing...
a "specialist" which goes round France to deal with special cases
will be at my dealer next week & they will call me when het gets there.

(in any case, no further news from mercedes through their website….)

Sorry to say , but this is getting ridiculous . almost 3 months have passed and no news from Mercedes.

What kind of service is that?

My internet radio is not working as it should. This service was sold to me With the car, so I consider it an option that is malfunctioning.
As such, it is Mercedes’ responsibility to find a solution for this issue in a reasonable amount of time. - This is NOT the case here.

As already outlined in several of my other mails, “Mercedes me connect” is FAR from the quality standard that Mercedes has set for their cars.

The quality is pretty poor, as is the customer service and on top it’s scandalous how “Mercedes me” takes away certain options that came with the car.

I would like to be taken seriously and demand a solution within 1 week from now.

I fully understand that the above is beyond your personal control mister Bour, so I suggest you inform your superiors about my dissatisfaction.

ive met the team that designed the head unit, they are in silicon valley, they were clueless to half my questions. just stop the service and use your phone instead. no more headaches. Or make them buy the car back from you

They will never buy back his car based on an app failure. Good luck in trying to make them.

I was not planning on them buying my car back because of a ***** app ;-)
they replied to me stating that it's a very specific/particular/difficult problem & that they are working hard on a solution...
so I already know where this is heading....

Internet radio is working great for me (2019 MY E450). I use TuneIN via the the main radio section (I have WiFi hotspot service via ATT), it's simply another band alongside AM, FM, and XM -- which is very logical.

I also use TuneIN sometimes via CarPlay, that works as well, but I prefer the native application since there are other aspects of CarPlay that I dislike compared to the native system (like the phone interface) and I find the CarPlay integration clunky so far -- locking up sometimes, cover art issues, etc. etc.. The native Mercedes implementation of TuneIn I find more robust on the Mercedes. The TuneIn app itself on iPhone is wonderful so my CarPlay issues are part of a larger issue of poor integration between the Mercedes and CarPlay in general.

I actually run an internet radio station (True Vinyl Alternative) so this is a really key capability for me. It has been an awesome experience to easily access internet stations so conveniently.

Note that you have to have WiFi hotspot service for it to be enabled. One of our cars is constantly down in terms of the cell service which is very frustrating. For MY19 in the US the service is provided directly by ATT and so far so good since I bought the car in March.

One frustrating bug with the TuneIN native app in Command however is that you can't delete a station from the favorites unless you can access the station. This means that if a station no longer broadcasts then you can't delete it from your favorites. I really wish Mercedes would fix this, I have a bunch of these old stations on my favorites list.

I've noticed that internet radio streaming really only works reliably on 4G, preferably LTE. When I've tried it on my friend's car with 3G it was useless, the bandwidth was not enough to keep up with any quality streams. The internet connection in my MY19 is LTE and it's a massive improvement for reliable internet radio.

reply received - seems there's a comand update that will fix the HTTP / HTTPS problem.
( in below mail the guy is talking about the central unit…)
