Nothing to do With MB - Greatings From Maine!
Worst travel trip ever. Flight was cancelled Wednesday. Rebooked for Thursday. Got to BWI at 2:00 PM, first flight to Maine cancelled. Finally got out 9 hours later. Got to Portland, Maine and the car rental agency we booked a car was closed. It was 1:30 AM and we were just standing there tired, cranky, frustrated with no clue what to do. When all of the sudden a guy opens up the Avis desk and we were able to rent a Kia Optima (surprisingly nice BTW) and finally get to our resort about 3:00 AM.
The rest of the story thus far, has been fantastic. It may have been hell getting here, but Ogunquit is charming and our resort quite lovely. The food has been fantastic. I’ve had lobster for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there’s snow on the ground, so both of us quite happy. We’ve decided to come up and spend Christmas here next year.
Just to make you salivate, here are a few pics:

It is nice up there I have family in Cape Elizabeth and Yarmouth. Sounds like a good trip once you got there. Hopefully will go smoother on your trip back. My cousin generally flys Alligiant which is a straight through flight from Punta Gorda to Portland for like 100 bucks each way.

I felt having been here long enough, I could post something outside the MB world. Since you don’t appreciate this, feel free to ignore the thread.

Though I do think that was written in jest.
Enjoy your vacation...

Thanks all. Having such a relaxing time and hopefully may see some snow in the morning, which will then turn to rain. If we see any flakes of snow, the trip will have been a success all around. He got cold and snow. I got lot’s of lobster!!

Of course it was in jest. That lobstah looks delish, but I won’t post his pics again via quote.

I humbly apologize if I misinterpreted what you posted in jest. And yes, the lobster was incredible. So good in fact, I had the same dinner last night.
Sadly, we’re getting a slush mixture from the snow gods this morning, which has now turned to cold damp rain and 34 degrees. I had truly hoped for his sake he’d be able to take a walk in falling snow. I think we’ve decided to spend Christmas here next year, so maybe he’ll get some snow then.

So we're home. Flight's up and back were horrible. We were taken off two planes as they had to ground them and then wait for them to find a new plane. Pain in the patooty, for sure. Southwest is definitely not doing well on the maintenance side. We had a wonderful trip though. So good, in fact. that we booked a return trip for Christmas next year. We got to pick out a really large room with a sitting area, plush seats and a gas log fireplace with the TV above. We've never been away from home at Christmas, but it's often so warm at Christmas in Tampa that it will at least feel like a real Christmas, being up north. And hopefully, we'll even get a white one!
Captian, I'm sorry if you had to fly here for a rainy day. It's been raining hard all day.
thefisch: The Kia was surprisingly nice in "some" respects. For a four cylinder engine it had some real pep and got up to 80 quickly on the interstate. It was quieter than the E300 Engine for sure. I have to say that Apple Car Play was simpler and more reliable in the Kia. We used Apple Maps for just about every journey, and it was simply flawless in graphics and vocal assistance. The radio, was actually nice for a car in this class. Fuel economy was amazing. We put a few hundred miles on the car and didn't even use a quarter tank of gas. The car with over 4K miles had not a single rattle or squeak anywhere. That's the good. The not good were the brakes and lights. The brights weren't even close to the Intelligent lights we have and the brakes were glitchy. When it was raining, they didn't feel confident and even made a squealing noise, which was rather disconcerting. It's actually not a bad car for just a little over $20k. But it's not a Mercedes, that's for sure.

Thanks for the review. The Optima is pretty good for the money. But coming home to your E450, you'll forget about the Kia pretty quickly. Although I still recall a few days in a loaner Civic while my wife's car was in the shop and she took mine.

Yes, there is no comparison and when I got behind the wheel of my E450 this afternoon, the differences became even more apparent. It's nice to know that if the day comes when I can't afford a Mercedes, there are nice cars that cost much less out there.
