I don't get it. If there's no cars around it's just regular cruise control. Others need to chime in here. Why would they not have that? that's crazy.

No correction, that's simply NOT cruise control. I mean, no cruise control when your cruising the open road is not cruise control. It may be 'in traffic control', or something.

It's a defective option in your car. Unacceptable.

It's because the radar signal needs to validate distance from objects. No objects, it is unable to validate and considers there to be an error. Same thing when the radar gets covered in say mud. It is unable to validate so won't allow cruise control to be used which is also frustrating and stupid.

And yes, it is crazy that you can't just use normal/regular cruise control.

Simply, it’s never just regular cruise control. If the sensors are dirty, it shuts off. It won’t maintain speed at all. I don’t understand your statements at all.

I thought his had a software glitch so that was the issue, I get it now that it was just a dirt issue. I just read it wrong, sorry (and of course I rambled on and on). In my defense I'm new to this, and it's rather complicated (to me).

Good to know so I'll be prepared when it happens to me.

Where is the software fix for activating cruise control on Distronic packages

There is no "regular" cruise control if you have the distronic "intelligent drive" package. I've trad about it in other forums and the Mercedes tech I spoke to today says it's a known issue and they are working on a software fix. Some of the highways I drive on you don't see a car for long periods of time. Mercedes Benz where is the software fix?

jah, don't hold your breath too long... this is only polite lip service.

Keep an eye on software TSB's you're interested in. These are currently available fixes.
