After B service Engine oil level showing only half??

I did B service on my W213 Diesel 2 days ago and after service it is still engine oil level shows half only (Half way between min & Max). is this as expected after B service (once in 2 years) that costs £550. still engine oil level is not showing full...? Should I complain to dealer..? I can service cost shows 6L engine Oil seems to have added. My worry is middle of this year I might start getting engine oil warnings. thanks.

I'd complain immediately if I were you. Do you mind sharing at which dealership you had the service carried out?

That’s where the oil level should be. If it’s on max it’s overfilled.

.
I don't have the oil level display either. I do have a very inconvenient oil level dipstick.
Even my 12 year old BMW has an electronic oil level display.

You gauge shows your oil level spot on....between minimum and maximum. Gauge is not a half full to full measurement.

Per Mercedes manual:
Engine Oil Level OK and the bar display for
indicating the oil level in the multifunction
display is green and is between "min" and
"max": the oil level is correct.

My car new from factory shows full to last bar from the top. My Porsche gauge was the same after service. It would drop a couple of bars after a year's driving. OP should have oil full to the last bar and should not add oil for one year until next service.

I would not touch it. It’s fine. Cars with no dip stick have this gauge. My amg had it and I have a lot of experience with it. If the car is not on totally level ground the readings could be off too. Last thing you want though is your car over filled. You could add just a little oil and the gauge will go red, been then done that and then I only had to drain off the excess. Not something you want. Leave well enough alone. Looks like they put in the correct amount. If you do fill it up to the max what happens is you park on a down hill then the gauge will turn red and stay that way.

Exactly. In my porsche, if there is too much oil, the oil pressure pings and you run he risk of blow/spill off.

I like all oil reading the middle and monitor it monthly. Very easy to top it off modestly yourself by leaving a quart in the garage or car. Lord knows we have the space in the trunk without a spare.

But the underlying root of this thread is really to see if Mercedes Techs actually perform all the service requirements as listed in Service B. I am always skeptical and review my dash cam after each service. The car ends up sitting in their parking lot for like 4 hours, and then in 15 minutes, a tech can perform everything. I went as far as checking the cabin air filter to see if it was actually changed, and it was. However, I used a marker to mark up the engine air filter and that was not changed. I do realize they let the cars sit for a while so that they aren't too hot, but its ridiculous the amount of money they charge and the services actually being performed.

When I had my W204 C class, they had recommended a transmission fluid change at 4 years or so. This was like a $700 procedure in itself, not including the B service I was in for. I then had a conversation with the service manager and brought up the work instruction manual states it to do it a certain way to fully remove all the fluid, but he admitted they dont do it that way. I can't remember the specifics, but many people on the forum said that much fluid remains in the system if not done properly, and there could be many metal shavings, etc. Anyway, he didn't really budge, but now I really want to bring those exposing camera crews with me

You are absolutely right. They charge $700.00 because it takes time to do it right. Don't do the work at that store.

I am not saying anything against Sandown, this is more a query to find all needed checks and changes really done for B service or not. If not in 2 months time I have to refill oil.

my worry was what joshg1001 said.

I doubt you will have to add any oil between now and your next oil change unless you drive super hard or the car has a lot of miles on it.

Have you checked the operating manual and see what it recommends or states? To me, it looks an appropriate level of oil.

I dunno why all the anguish. This has been asked and answered several times. The gauge shows normal oil level.

If it's maxed out like that on level ground when you get going on a downhill it might turn red and say overfill and then you will be really worried. Too me on level ground that is too much oil, just my opinion. Don't forget not all the oil drains out and then you go in and put the spec and your gonna be over filled. I use to own a chain of quick lubes, I hated wasting oil.

Since the oil change I’ve driven 600 miles ( up hill, down hill, city driving and motorway driving) no problems start all. Only 6 ltr oils was used as recommended

That's not bad, oil level after our first A service was two quarts low. Not impressed. Level since the recent B service has been fine, somebody must have set the fill capacity setting wrong.

Oil change!

[QUOTE=MercE007;7710690]
I've done service B on my E 220cdi and put with my hand 6.5 litres.First I put 6 litres and level was close to minimum. Then I added 300 ml and was showing half way between min and Max.Then I added twice 100ml and 100 ml.
the level stays at max when the engine is hot or cold.
Sometimes I have a message on dashboard that oil level is too high,Remove oil.
When I bought the car from dealership last year, the level was exactly the same as I see in your picture.
I guess that should be 6.2 or 6.3litres.
