Any suggestion for a scent (masculine). Any place to buy these containers other than the dealer? Thanks for the input!

 

My 2019 E450 is being delivered in a few weeks.

i bought an empty jar on Amazon, and plan on filling the jar with Bay Rum.

There are a few threads about this topic if you do a search. You can find empty containers on eBay or Amazon (they ain't cheap). The default fragrance for E class equipped with the Air Balance System is Fireside Mood. I would classify it as masculine (so does my wife), I thought it was quite pleasant. I haven't tried the other available E class scents (Pacific, Downtown and Sports Moods).

Or, you could try (as I have) a Maybach scent called Agarwood with it's woody, smokey scent. I actually prefer Fireside Mood and switch between the two. Set on low, they last quite a long time.

Having said all that, apparently you can refill the container with any fragrance you want, such as your favorite cologne or AirWick or various other essential oils. Note there is some discussion about whether to use oil or alcohol-based products. I believe the Mercedes products are oil based. Good luck, keep us posted.

I can't even smell the Fireside Mood that came with my E class, the bottle level did go down while I was trying to use it, so I guess my air balance system works. I guess it is just a very weak scent.

 

You can adjust the amount of freshener your Air Balance system dispenses in your car. Watch this video:

 

a common issue is that your hose might be pinched.

If you have never smelt it yet, i would bring it in for warranty work. Mine finally got fixed after a year of ownership...

 

Freeside mood and Sports mood are pretty good scents. 100 bucks on amazon.
