Active Speed Limit Assist Operation
I think it's a neat feature, having gotten a $200 ticket shortly after an unseen speed limit reduction, but I was wondering: Is there a "cheat" value which is settable as to how far /above/ the speed limit it should drive? I'm sure we all don't keep exactly to a 60 mph limit, for example, going say 65 pretty safely (my friend automatically goes 10 mph over the limit, and so far so good). Anyhow, if there's a value you can set in Setup, so that the car would run at say 6 mph over the speed limit, whatever that limit might be, that would be useful. But if it only runs at /exactly/ the speed limit, I doubt that will be useful to me. Can someone tell me how it works?
In a related area, the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC maintains a safe/set distance between you and the car ahead of you, up to the set maximum speed, reducing speed if required. The reviews I saw online said that you set the distance you wanted to keep to the car in front in hundreds of feet. That makes no sense, because the distance should vary with your speed. On my Acura, for example, the distance is specified in seconds: 1.1, 1.5, 2.1 or 2.8. That makes sense; minimum distance is usually considered as 1 car length per 10 mph, which works out to 1 second with a 176" long car. I cannot imagine that you actually specify a /distance/ in feet with the MB, and wonder if someone could tell me how it actually works?

I’m pretty sure you can’t set the car to automatically exceed the speed limit. You have to manually set the speed for that.
I disabled the active speed assist feature mostly because the car sometimes gets funny ideas about what it thinks is the current speed limits.
I’ve had it err in both directions. Sometimes it thinks I’m in a 20mph school zone when I’m not. When I’m in a long construction zone on the highway, it will sometimes revert to the normal speed limit.
I’d rather just control it myself.
