9G, upshifting issue?
Well, another W213 thread with another issue!
E220d AMG Line, 52k on the clock
Tonight, I was driving, pushing on abit between the roundabouts up to the speed limits.
With this, I was upshifting with the paddles around 4000rpm, but it wasn't upshift, and just revving out to 4500rpm before the car wanted to upshift, which was odd.
Before 4000rpm it would upshift with the paddles as per normal when I requested.
I don't really like the 9G, not coming from the ZF8 speed from a BMW, but that's another thread!
Any input, I haven't had this before.

I am not sure what you were asking. If this is something new that has started happening and did not occur before I would advise seeking a mechanic or dealer help. My shifts with the paddle shifters are spot on.

I am asking, if anybody else has found this on there car, under the same parameters as my first post.
I shall try this out again today, and see. The car is under Mercedes warranty.

MBWorld Fanatic!
If I have time I'll try this later today. That said I have two opinions: 1. The paddles are slow to respond and worthless except for quick changing to lowest gear & 2. I find the 9G-Tronic to be a fine transmission. Much better than the 7G-Tronic. The ZF found in BMW and many other manufacturers is good. I always found it interesting that MB makes their own transmissions, for better or worse, rather than using third party.

Were you going around a curve or sharp bend? In these cases, the stability control computer may prevent a shift to avoid loss of traction.

Mercedes Benz e450 Wagon / Porsche 911 Cabriolet
First, ZF is the business. Just a spectacular shifter. In contrast, the 9G-Tronic is quite good, but not great. However, it is very serviceable if not sometimes clunky in stop and go traffic. For spirited driving, I created a "manual transmission setting" in the "Individual" profile (above sport+). It shifts quickly and gives me the sporty feeling that I occasionally crave. However, I do have the E450 and don't know if these options are available with the OP's model
One added word since it was mentioned above: I completely agree with the 7G-Tronic assessment. I had it on my prior wagon and never like it. Slow, really clunky and didn't mesh with my driving desires as seamlessly as the newer transmission.

Update: I was trying to replicate the issue, what I couldn't, I was changing fine, I tried 4000rpm, 4250,4500rpm and changed as requested.
But, coming off the roundabout, full throttle, changing in manual from 3rd @ 4000rpm into 4th gear, the car does fine, but then jumps into 5th 1second later.
So there is an issue, it did this 3times, never done this before. I am hoping a software issue, and not an autobox issue?!.

Sounds like the stability control computer may be trying to prevent an accident by avoiding throttle lift oversteer. Do all of these issues happen in and around sharp curves?

Tested, and didn’t do it, must of tried 10 times. Odd, but this W213 never fills me with much confidence!
Thanks for your inputs. Will keep things posted if things change.
Thanks
