Today, for the 12th time in the last two weeks, I had no live traffic information, verbal POI commands didn’t work and any other features requiring an internet connection were inoperative. I pressed the i button and spoke to tech support, who told me the system has.been down for two weeks or more, they are working on it but they have no idea when it will be fixed. This is the fourth time Ive called to complain this month with nothing to show. Last week, I canceled the $28/month package which includes Internet radio, the Mercedes browser and other features because I was being charged for something that never worked. I can understand occasional glitches but with Mercedes, the system is down far more than it’s up. When Mercedes advertises “the best or nothing “ at least theyre being honest. They give you nothing. Someone should file a class action lawsuit over the features that Mercedes advertises, sometimes even charges extra for, but are continuously broken. I like the way my car drives but Ive about had it with the low priority Mercedes gives to this and Mercedes apparent low regard for its customers. .

the live traffic has been always had this problem from the start of my ownership almost 3 years ago, but then went away for awhile. For the past two weeks, it definitely has been happening more and more. Im glad its something system wide and not specifically my car.

Not to make light of your problem or personal frustration, but that was the funniest thing I've read today. Originally Posted by Tiburonsteve

In my experience when this happens it's invariably in the early morning. Makes me wonder if it's related to the position of a satellite or something.

I started watching it and it takes about an hour to connect. I have called twice the first time they rebooted my **** and it dint really help. the second call the lady say I am in a weak signal area. nope not true I said. she elevated to tier 2 they called and said make an appt at the dealer.

Frustrating as hell. My morning and evening commutes are when I really need live traffic information. For about 2 weeks now, I consistently don't get live info in the morning, but the evening is OK. I'm in Maryland, and wonder where other people having issues are located. If it was a sattelite, you'd think it would be location dependent.
How can they screw this up so badly, and not fix it quickly? The best or NOTHING indeed! Fortunately, Google maps works fine, although I'd prefer that the built in system we paid $ for would work.

Live traffic worked for me today fine. I entered my route, and the system told me of two slowdowns along the way.
If it doesn't know your route, it will not give traffic info.

The problem seems to be that the system is down at least 70% of the time and this has been the situation for several weeks. DFW, you may have caught it at an up time. My system also was working today for the first time in many days. The explanations I get from MBrace and Mercedes customer “care” are all over the place-system problem, car problem, two different unrelated problems (live traffic and voice navigation). I’ve decided to take the car for service and let the dealer figure it out. Of course, when I take it in, everything probably will be working perfectly. My respect for Mercedes and its customer support is at rock bottom....and Ive owned 7 different Mercedes cars. Next time I buy a car, I will look elsewhere.

I have noticed a problem with the Mercedes me connect web portal in the last week which may be related to the live traffic issue. The portal works intermittently. Lately it’s unavailable more often than not. The iPhone app seems to be working properly though.

AFAIK Traffic Assist has never stopped working for me. I do not have to have a route enabled to have traffic messages displayed. Yesterday a message popped up stating that there was an "event" on the road just ahead. I was not using the nav at the time.
imagine if this problem was with Tesla, every news outlet would be covering it. We need to get Mercedes issues publicized until they are embarrassed and start producing products that work! or just buy another product that gives you the best and no nothing.

I’ve noticed app or web portal issues in the past but Live Traffic seems to always work for me, even if a route isn’t active. I believe “Live Traffic” is a Mercedes me Connect feature on 2019 cars and later. Earlier model year cars used Sirius XM traffic information to provide real time traffic information. Problems with traffic information on cars prior to MY 2019 are probably from a different source than 2019 and later cars with Mercedes me Connect.
My live traffic and voice activated poi’s have resumed working. I got a call today from MB customer service saying the engineering department had discovered that something on their end was switched to off when it should have been on. She was unable to answer my questions such as what was this something, did this only happen to me or to others and why did it take a month of repeat phone calls and conflicting explanations to discover this? She said that she was not a technical person and could only relay what engineering reported. We’ll hope it continues to work.

For my 3 years of ownership the live traffic has been spotty, but I may have an answer for what's going on - especially for those of us 3 years in: Live traffic was free for 3 years. Now that 3 years is up, it has expired. I checked with mBrace to see what the cost of reactivation would be and they said (in not so many words) that they hadn't thought that through and they don't know how to create extended subscriptions. (Crazy, right?) Plus, they have no idea when they'll figure it out. Thankfully, Carplay (albeit wired) works great for Google and Apple maps. (Tip - Like the Mercedes Maps, Apple maps is better and Google maps on certain local roads. No idea why.) I always like the Mercedes maps interface - so much smoother than Google Maps, but I also found Google to be more reliable - at least it always works! I'll muddle through in my final year of ownership.

Actually, there’s a lot of misinformation and confusion about what’s included in the different mbrace subscriptions. I was paying both a monthly fee (about $28) and an annual fee of about $200 for services that seldom worked and that I rarely use. The Mercedes brochures and online information are totally confusing about what’s included. I got different explanations from different people at Mbrace and at my dealer. Part of the confusion-there are two kinds of live traffic and the Mercedes literature and web site don’t differentiate or explain this. One kind is the traffic information on your cars navigation screen, where it says “live traffic” in the lower left, there are different colored lines to represent traffic flow, symbols to show problems, arrival time shown on the screen factors in traffic, detours are suggested when appropriate, etc. (when they are not broken). That’s all included and there should be no additional charge. The other live traffic is the ability to press the i button and get routing and traffic information from a live Mbrace person. That costs extra. I rely a lot on the on screen traffic information and wanted to be sure I wouldn’t lose it by canceling the $28/month service, which is why I asked so many people and meanwhile kept paying the monthly fee. Some at Mbrace said I would lose this if I cancelled the monthly subscription. Not true. I began to wonder if they really could be so clueless or whether they just wanted me to keep paying and paying. The Mercedes technologist ar my dealer urged me to cancel and convinced me that the subscription was not necessary for on screen live traffic. Originally Posted by bizinsider

Hmmm. That last sentence is interesting. I never paid for the mBrace and the live traffic came with the car. I was actually stunned when mBrace told me that they have no idea what to do with the expiring subscriptions. This is, after all, Mercedes. It's not like they have never been through this before. But I will say that the inconsistency of live traffic has been a surprise throughout the three years. When it worked, it was elegant and easy; when it didn't...well, thankfully CarPlay, while not as elegant, is a great alternative. Still, for the ease of the Mercedes system, I would have paid for another year...until my lease expires. But they don't want my money!Originally Posted by Tiburonsteve

I have a 2018 and live in Maryland. I also have problems with the Live Traffic. Sometimes I can go several weeks and all works ok. I have noticed that if I don’t get 4G in the upper right corner, no live traffic. Sometimes it will reappear on the next startup other times no.
My contract claimed live traffic for 5 years. Have no idea how to renew it after that

I suspect your problem is with the Mercedes brace system which is down more than it’s up. Mine didn’t work for a month. It came back up last week and Mercedes customer service called to say the problem was fixed. Today it stopped working again. I’m getting tired of going back and forth between Mercedes technical support, Mbrace and my dealer about what’s causing this. I’m taking the car to the dealer tomorrow and just saying “fix it.” Let them figure it out. I am totally disappointed at the incompetence Ive encountered at Mercedes Mbrace and tech support and their inability to solve this problem after several weeks.

Regarding fixing it - when mine had become totally unreliable they replaced the entire command module. That seemed to get it working again, but then, of course, it became it's usual spotty. But at least it worked more than it didn't work, until it...EXPIRED.
