Head-Up Display Availability on 2020s
I notice that in the DOGs I have for both E-Class Sedan and Wagon, that the Head-Up Display option (which inexplicitly increased in price from $990 to $1,100 BTW) is marked "Delayed Availability" for the Wagon and "Limited Availability" for the Sedan? Seems funny, as it's obviously been out for a while. Anyhow, anyone know what Delayed Availability is in this case? Are orders you've placed for 2020s coming with HUDs? Any feedback about them being delayed? Until when?

I may have (partially) answered my own question: The E450 at a dealer about 80 miles away does have the HUD. Hope my wagon can be ordered and received with it.

I heard that the factory that makes the HUD is in Japan and when they had the tsunami a couple years ago the facility suffered damage. That resulted in limited availability.

It can affect the built slot you get. At one point last year I read on this forum that dealers couldn’t order cars with the HUD for stock units, but could for customer orders. I had no issue getting one ordered in December that was build in February.

I seem to recall that when there was a shortage of HUDs last year (or was it the year before?) it was partially blamed on a fire at the supplier's factory. Perhaps they are still recovering from that fire?
This last May I put in an order for a 2020 E450 Sedan which included the HUD. I was told that my vehicle would include it. I'll find out for sure fairly soon as I'm been told the car has reached the Long Beach CA port and I should have the car in a few weeks.
