Distronic Activating for no reason

Have any of you guys had your distronic activate without warning? Was on the highway last Sunday and merged on to the left lane about 75 yards behind a tractor trailer out of the blue name! The the brakes activated hard. Car did not come to a full stop but got the bird from the guy behind me who had to brake hard to not rear end me. Pretty dangerous I think and hoping this can be fixed via a software upgrade.

Search the forums for "sudden braking" or "unsafe braking." There are dozens of cases.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Go to active braking assist in the assistance menu which is a sub menu under the vehicle menu on the main screen and turn it down to medium. I’ve had no problems yet under that setting. Yours may be set to early. Or if your more comfortable having it not active just turn it off. That is not part of Distronic. I believe cars that don’t even have the Distronic option still have this feature.

.
There are several NHTSA consumer complaints about brake assist activation for no apparent cause. There is another thread about the issue.

Yes, major known issue here. MBUSA continues to turn a blind eye.
