E200 W213 Can I disconnect battery when I go on holiday
Can I disconnect the battery.... and reconnect it when I’m back from a 2 month holiday. Frequently leave my car for 1-2 months at a stretch in standby mode .. it’s fine but a real pain as have to run ( idle) the car for 3-4 hrs despite charging the battery with an Ext charger before the standby mode allows me to access it ( if not it reads battery insufficient for standby mode ) .
When I first got the car( didn’t know about the standby mode) and had to get MB assistance to come down and jump start the car a few times and finally battery died after 1 year.. had to change it ... and even then they(MB) did not inform me about the standby mode 🙄. ... they were the ones that told me to keep the car running in idle x 3-4 hrs to charge .
I still have an older E300 W212 .... no issues leaving it for 1-2 months at all .. regret buying the new W213😬

In every newer car I've had, disconnecting the battery causes all kinds of things to reset, possibly using up those 3-4 hours to get everything back where it belongs. Sounds like Standby Mode is the best option, along with a trickle charger (occasionally, if not continuously).

Batterey maintainer aka trickle charger is the answer - very economical ones such as Battery Tender can be had for about $30 - or what many consider to be the best solution is a CTEK smart charger
