mproving driving comfort by changing AMG R19 tires (maybe rims)

I have this combination of tires:
245/40ZR19 Run Flat
275/35ZR19 Run Flat

In the city where I live there are very bad roads and therefore driving is uncomfortable. In addition, the original ones are quite loud.
As winter is approaching, I have to buy winter tires and rims.
How to check if these tires can be fitted 245/50 R18, 235/50 R18, 245/45 R19?

You'll find a Tire Size Calculator here: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Basically, you need to choose tires that a) Will fit the wide wheels you have (narrow tires won't as easily), b) Have enough load capacity (probably not a problem) and c) Have close to the same diameter, due to clearances around the tires as well as speedometer error, etc. Your existing tires, using the calculator, are 26.7" and 26.6" in diameter. You'll want to be within a fraction of an inch or so of that. Plus, to be more comfortable, you'll want the tires to have a higher aspect ratio (the second number).

As always, this is tough. There just isn't a good way to get high profile tires only existing low profile 19" wheels. 225/45 R19 aren't too much larger, but that's a narrow tire on an AMG (20mm narrower on the front, 50 mm - 2 INCHES - narrower on the rear). The other sizes you mentioned are too large in diameter, IMHO, being from 1" to 2" larger. And will the 45 profile versus 35 to 40 be enough to change the ride for you? I don't know. You certainly don't want to ruin the car, but you have a hard problem to solve.

Possibly a combination: I assume the OEM tires are run-flats, which ride harder, so going to non-run-flats, in a 225/45 R19, and getting a tire brand and model known for a soft ride would help. But in a way, you're neutering your AMG, so the choice is yours.

Missed the "maybe rims". If you could go to 18" wheels, that would allow you to use the standard E Sedan size of 245/45 R18, which works size-wise and diameter-wise, although still toning down your AMG's handling. But the brake clearance could be a problem (No E-Series AMGs are currently available with 18" wheels), so someone else would have to check or know if the 18" wheel would fit around your AMG's brakes.

When I bought winter tyres for my e class the options I looked at where 245x45 18 inch or 245x40 19 inch. I bought a second set of rims so I opted for 19 inch for the looks. I think it is also possible to get 225x50/55 17 inch rims if you want even more comfort.

I wouldnt run with the stock 19 inch rins during winter because of them being staggered (wider in the back) usually recommended to have the same width all around, at least by the dealer. So probably best buying a new set with tyres, then you can choose rim size. There are affordable aftermarket options.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I've messed around with different wheel/tire combinations on my wagon and does not do all that much. I really think the suspension geometry on these wagons is just kinda taunt and there's really not a lot you can do about it. The rear of the car with the air suspension seems especially non compliant. It's strange because my E450 Cabrio rides so much better, more towards S class quality type of ride. This is the second W213 Wagon I've had and the first the E63 AMG was extremely firm. I'm really hoping in the next generation wagon that ride quality is addressed more or for that matter Benz just comes out with a S class Wagon (doubtful, lol) I'd be a customer for one of those cars. I thought about replacing my current W213 with one with multicontour seats and leather but I can't even see making move, I'd still have the same lousy ride. I guess 18 inch rims would help out some perhaps with some even higher profile tires than stock but the car certainly would not look as good. Maybe a Porsche Panemara grand tourismo Wagon is in my future the next car.

I chose the size 245/45 R18 for the front and rear axle. I hope it will be a good compromise between appearance and comfort. Currently, I will be buying a winter set. I was looking for the quietest tires in this size on the market. I have to decide between:
  • Goodyear UG 8 Performance 245/45 R18 100 V XL
  • Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 245/45 R18 100 V XL
  • Dunlop SP WINTER SPORT 3D 245/45 R18 100 V RUN ON FLAT XL
Goodyer have the most good reviews in terms of noise. Dunlop, I'm afraid they might be a little hard because of Run On Flat. All tires have 68 dB.
Has anyone used any of the tires in the above list or have a better deal in terms of silence?
