Help buying a car
Hi guys,
I have been looking for a Mercedes E-class, E220D, with a budget up to 20K ideally looking for a model 2017.
What kind of things should i be looking out for? I like the AMG but what is the difference between the AMG and SE?
Should i look at SE that has more features?
I also notice the Eclass has another model 4 Matic? what is the difference?
Are there any common faults with these model?
i notice some mercs have a bigger screen is this what is known as Command Online?
Also what features are really standard with this model? and the benefits of the extra features? For my i would like a big screen in the middle, heated seats, rear view camera, privacy windows are a must...but what else should i look out for?
As im new to the Merc world i would appreciate some guidance.

4Matic is MB's version of 4 wheel drive.
MB offers 2 different entertainment systems - COMAND and Audio 20. COMAND has more features.
In the US AMG trim includes the sport grille and a few other sportier trim items along with nicer wheels and larger brakes.
MB doesn't offer the SE trim in the US so I can't compare.
Standard features vary between market areas. US models tend to have more standard features than in other markets.

Thank you for the reply. What are the features off Command vs Audio?
What kind of features should i look out for? are there any common problems with the e class?

The e220d are pretty common in Sweden and they seem to be working fine. Just make sure its been properly maintained and all should be good.
Comand come with the large screens but there are some audio 20 with the large screen (like mine). Comand should have more features but its nothing I miss as I use apple carplay when driving. Look up all the options on mercedes website (like the configurator) and see which you want on your car. I have the AMG line as I like the more aggresive styling and it has a nicer interior (in Sweden at least). The SE looks very basic here but might vary from country. In general the cars are good, there are some strange noises complaints in the forum but just test drive and see. Its hard to answer because people vary regarding option levels, some think the base models are sufficient and others need all the option. Personally Im only interested in certain options so I custom ordered from factory to get what I wanted.
Regarding differences between SE and amg line, its only differences in appearance. The cars are the same, the lower profile and wider tyres on the AMG lines might warrant sligthly better handling but also be less comfortable. Otherwise they are the same, and an SE and AMG line with the same wheels/tyres should feel the same
