360 camera differences

When using the 360 camera there seems to be black bars around the car when you look at it on the screen. Even with the sensors turned off, my 360 camera when activated has huge black bars around the car.
The below image isn't mine, but this is how the 360 camera looks like in our e450.

However, when looking at dealership photos of the 360 camera for 2019 and 2020 E Class, there are no black bars around the sides of the car. Is there any reason for the variation? Also, for those who have a 360 camera, does yours look similar to the first pic or the 2nd pic?

2019 E450 Wagon
Mine looks like the second pic. I’ve got an E450 wagon built in February this year.

to the far right, you can choose the angle. Is this what you mean?

My 2018 looks like the first image. I love the black bars because they represent an approximate 30" (.75m) distance making it easy to get close to objects, but not too close.

Those black bars are there after the car is just started. IF you give it a few minutes, the black bars areas turns into gray bars like the front and rear bumper and have sensors. But from your 19/20 picture, it seems like they changed it.

Here is what I think is happening:

The black bars in the first picture are the sides of the vehicle with the camera going forward. This picture is from the cameras in the outside mirrors.

The second picture is the rear of the car.

As posted above there are five settings for the camera:

Here is what happens on my car:
  • When I put my E450 into reverse I get the second picture: the default setting is the bottom right plus what you see on the left - pictures from the cameras on the outside mirrors showing distance to right and left
  • When I then go forward I get the camera in the front to work: this would be setting fourth from the bottom plus on the left the pictures from the cameras on the outside mirrors showing distance to right and left
Hope this helps
